Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled L2 Network Engineer to join our 24x7 NOC team. The role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining IP/MPLS routing and switching infrastructure, handling incident escalations from L1, and ensuring optimal network performance across a multi-vendor service provider environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor network performance and availability through NMS/EMS dashboards and alarms.
- Handle L2-level troubleshooting for routing, switching, and MPLS-related incidents escalated from L1.
- Perform fault isolation and resolution for network outages within defined SLA timelines.
- Configure and maintain routers/switches as per approved MOPs and change requests.
- Log, track, and update incident tickets in the ITSM/ticketing tool (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy).
- Coordinate with field/onsite teams for hardware replacement and physical link issues.
- Escalate unresolved critical issues to L3/vendor support with proper documentation.
- Support scheduled maintenance activities, patching, and software upgrades.
- Maintain accurate shift handover reports and network status logs.
- Assist in capacity monitoring and utilization reporting of network links.
Must-Have Skills &
- Keywords
- Solid understanding of IP Routing and Switching fundamentals (L2/L3).
- Working knowledge of MPLS concepts and service provider network operations.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting BGP, OSPF, and static routing.
- Good understanding of VLAN,
Spanning Tree (STP/RSTP), and Link Aggregation (LACP).
- Familiarity with NMS/EMS monitoring tools and alarm management.
- Basic ITIL process knowledge Incident and Change Management.
- Ability to work in rotational 24x7 shifts (including night shifts).
- Valuable communication and documentation skills.

- Cisco – ISR/ASR/Catalyst Series, IOS/IOS-XE
- Juniper – MX/EX Series, JUNOS basics
- Nokia (Alcatel-Lucent) – 7750/7450 SR OS basics
- Huawei – NE/CX Routers, S Series Switches, VRP OS
- Arista – 7000 Series Switches, EOS basics
