About The Job:

- BMO is looking for an experienced offshore technology resource with strong expertise in Sybase IQ and Microsoft SQL Server 2022 Database Administration, along with a solid foundation in AWS Cloud technologies.

- The role will be initially required for 6 months with the potential for extension.

Essential Job Functions:

Database Administration

- Administer and support Sybase IQ and Microsoft SQL Server 2022 environments.

- Perform database patching, upgrades, backup, and recovery activities.

- Execute routine database health checks, performance tuning, capacity management, and preventive maintenance.

- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, availability, and operational issues.

- Perform database installation, configuration, and environment setup activities.

- Manage users, roles, permissions, security, and access controls.

- Monitor database storage, space utilization, growth trends, and resource consumption.

- Develop and maintain database maintenance plans and operational procedures.

- Perform database migrations, refreshes, cloning, and environment synchronization.

- Troubleshoot SQL queries, blocking, locking, deadlocks, and resource contention.

- Implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies where applicable.

- Maintain database documentation, runbooks, and operational standards.

Cloud & Data Engineering Support

- Support databases and data platforms hosted in AWS Cloud environments.

- Apply AWS cloud concepts, operational best practices, and infrastructure knowledge to support cloud-hosted workloads.

- Leverage PySpark and related cloud data processing technologies to assist with future-state cloud operations and data engineering activities.

- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud engineering, and application teams during cloud migration and post-migration support.

- Support AWS services such as S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, and IAM.

- Monitor cloud resource utilization, availability, performance, and operational health.

- Assist with database and workload migration from on-premises environments to AWS.

- Support cloud-based data pipelines, processing jobs, and data validation activities.

- Troubleshoot cloud connectivity, access, configuration,



and performance issues.

- Follow AWS security, cost optimization, and operational best practices.

- Support automation of recurring database and cloud operational tasks using Python and scripting.

ETL & Release Support

- Perform day-to-day ETL data loading and data validation activities across development, QA, and production environments.

- Support QA testing cycles by validating data loads and resolving data-related issues.

- Participate in production deployments and implementation activities, ensuring successful release execution and post-deployment validation.

- Monitor ETL jobs and troubleshoot failed, delayed, or incomplete data loads.

- Validate source-to-target data reconciliation and data quality.

- Support scheduling and monitoring of batch processing and ETL workflows.

- Coordinate with development and QA teams to resolve data and deployment issues.

- Maintain deployment checklists, release documentation, and operational runbooks.

- Perform post-deployment verification and production data validation.

- Support rollback and recovery activities when required.

Production Support & Operational Coverage

- Provide operational support for production environments and participate in incident resolution when required.

- Support production implementations, which are typically scheduled during Saturday morning offshore hours.

- Be flexible to align work schedules with production deployment windows and critical business events.

- Participate in on-call and after-hours support activities as required.

- Perform incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and problem management.

- Monitor production jobs, databases, ETL processes, and application dependencies.

- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, cloud, and business teams during critical incidents.

- Maintain incident, problem, and change-management documentation.

- Identify recurring issues and implement preventive or permanent solutions.

- Follow defined SLA, escalation, and operational support procedures.

Working Hours & Overlap Expectations

- The resource is expected to provide a minimum overlap with the onshore team until 1:00 PM EST to facilitate collaboration, issue resolution, and project coordination.

- Flexible offshore working hours are acceptable, including starting later in the local day, provided the required onshore overlap is maintained.





- Availability for database backup, recovery, patching, and performance-tuning activities during the required onshore overlap is expected.

- Availability during planned production implementation activities is mandatory, particularly during weekend deployment windows when required.

- Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, release activities, and critical production events.

- Maintain timely communication with onshore stakeholders during overlapping working hours.

- Ensure proper handoffs between offshore and onshore teams at the end of each working period.

- Support priority incidents and business-critical issues outside standard working hours when required.

- Maintain flexibility to adjust working hours based on project, release, and operational requirements.
