Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Media & Public Relations Intern to lead media relations, corporate communications, thought leadership and reputation management for Sankar Group.

The role will work closely with senior leadership and business teams to develop compelling stories, build strong relationships with journalists and media houses, and position Sankar Group and its leadership as credible voices in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Media Relations

- Build and maintain solid relationships with national, regional, business and sector-specific media.
- Develop and execute proactive media engagement strategies.
- Identify relevant news opportunities and convert business developments into compelling media stories.
- Manage media enquiries, interviews, briefings and press interactions.
- Prepare press releases, media statements, Q&As; and briefing notes.
- Track and analyse media coverage and sentiment.

Corporate Communications

- Develop and maintain a consistent corporate narrative for Sankar Group.
- Communicate key business milestones, investments, achievements and strategic initiatives.
- Work with internal teams to identify newsworthy developments.
- Ensure consistency of messaging across corporate communications channels.

Leadership & Thought Leadership

- Build the media profile and thought-leadership positioning of senior executives.
- Develop articles, opinion pieces, speeches, interviews and LinkedIn content.
- Identify speaking, panel, conference and industry-award opportunities.
- Prepare executives for media interviews and public appearances.

Digital & Social Media

- Support corporate LinkedIn and other digital communication initiatives.




- Develop content around company milestones, leadership, people, innovation and industry insights.
- Monitor digital conversations and emerging reputation issues.

Crisis Communications

- Support the development and implementation of crisis communication plans.
- Prepare holding statements, FAQs and media responses when required.
- Coordinate communication with internal and external stakeholders during sensitive situations.
- Monitor media and social channels for potential reputational risks.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Relations, Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
- 6 months –1 year of relevant experience in corporate communications, PR, media relations or a reputed PR agency.
- Strong relationships with journalists and media houses will be an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of business and corporate media.
- Ability to develop compelling narratives and press materials.
- Experience handling senior executives and high-visibility communications.
- Strong judgement, discretion and crisis-management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
