Role Overview:
- We are seeking a proactive, politically astute, and detail-oriented Media Research Trainee to join our strategic communications and political intelligence team. The role entails real-time media monitoring, political discourse tracking, and risk assessment across traditional and digital platforms. The selected candidate will operate in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, identifying emerging narratives, evaluating public sentiment, and translating breaking developments into actionable political intelligence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Multi-Tier Media &
- Narrative Tracking:
Monitor national, regional, local, and digital media platforms continuously to identify breaking political developments, emerging campaigns, allegations, and controversies.
- Political &
- Opposition Intelligence: Systematically track opposition parties, key political figures, and their messaging across mainstream and social media channels to evaluate narrative shifts and strategy.
- Issue &
- Policy Monitoring: Track core public interest issues—including law and order, governance, education, corruption, and social justice—alongside state and central government development projects, public welfare schemes, and administrative announcements.
- Risk Assessment &
- Real-Time Alerts: Gauge the urgency and potential fallout of sensitive issues, issuing rapid real-time alerts on breaking news, viral content, and high-risk political developments.
- Trend &
- Sentiment Analysis: Identify viral and trending political discourse across digital platforms, specifically X (formerly Twitter), assessing overall public mood, sentiment shifts, and strategic opportunities.
- Fact-Checking &
- Source Verification: Authenticate claims, statements,
and viral media against credible news outlets, government notifications, and official archives prior to escalation.
- Media Intelligence &
- Reporting: Synthesise daily coverage into structured briefs, executive summaries, and presentation decks highlighting risks, competitor visibility, and actionable political insights.
- PR &
- Media Operations Support: Maintain updated media databases, conduct journalist mapping, monitor brand mentions, and support the drafting of press releases, statements, and briefing points.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Political Science, Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Policy, International Relations, or a related discipline.
- Professional Experience: Upto 2 years of hands-on experience in political research, media monitoring, PR intelligence, or newsroom tracking. Graduates demonstrating exceptional political acumen and rigorous analytical skill will be considered.
- Domain Acumen: Profound understanding of the Indian political landscape, electoral dynamics, governance structures, and contemporary political discourse.
- Linguistic Proficiency: Impeccable comprehension and analytical fluency in both Hindi and English. Proficiency in an additional regional language is an advantage.
- Technical &
- Platform Command:
Thorough familiarity with digital and social platforms—particularly X, YouTube, and meta networks—as well as digital news aggregators, media tracking software, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Operational Agility: Proven capacity to maintain precision, rigorous attention to detail, and objective political judgment while operating under strict deadlines in a rapid-paced war-room setting.
