Purpose/Objective The incumbent will be responsible for engineering, design review, technical evaluation, and project coordination activities related to Mechanical Balance of Plant (BOP) systems across thermal power projects. The role requires extensive exposure to engineering design, vendor management, technical bid evaluation, and coordination with project execution teams to ensure timely and quality delivery of BOP packages.

Description for Internal Candidates

Key Responsibilities of Role

Engineering & Design

- Review and approve engineering documents, drawings, calculations, and technical specifications related to Mechanical BOP systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian and international codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Coordinate with consultants, OEMs, EPC contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders during engineering development.
- Review design optimization opportunities to improve plant performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Support preparation and finalization of project technical specifications and design criteria.

Mechanical BOP Systems Hands-on experience in engineering and design of the following systems:

- CW System (Cooling Water System)
- ACW System (Auxiliary Cooling Water System)
- DM Plant
- Raw Water Treatment Plant (RWTP)
- Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)
- Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)
- Compressed Air System
- Fire Fighting System
- Fuel Oil System
- HVAC Utility Systems
- Ash Handling System
- Water and Wastewater Systems





Procurement & Vendor Management

- Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) of BOP packages.
- Vendor offer review and technical clarifications.
- Vendor drawing review and approval.
- Participation in vendor meetings and factory inspections.
- Resolution of engineering issues during manufacturing and execution stages.

Project Coordination

- Interface management with Civil, Electrical, C&I;, Process, and Project teams.
- Track engineering deliverables as per project schedules.
- Support site teams in resolving engineering-related issues.
- Monitor engineering quality and ensure adherence to project milestones.

Documentation & Compliance

- Preparation and review of engineering reports, design basis documents, datasheets, and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Support project audits and management reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

- M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Thermal Engineering.
- Additional certification in Power Plant Engineering, Project
- Management, or Design Engineering will be an added advantage.
- 8-18 years of relevant experience in Thermal Power Projects.
- Experience in Owner's Engineer, EPC, Consultant, or Power Utility workplace.
- Exposure to engineering and design of Mechanical BOP packages for large utility-scale thermal power plants (210 MW, 500 MW, 660 MW, 800 MW or above).
- Experience in greenfield and brownfield thermal power projects will be preferred.
