Role Purpose:

To plan, develop, and implement manufacturing processes, layouts, and equipment for the Powertrain Shop (Engine, Transmission, Axle, etc.) ensuring productivity, quality, and safety targets are achieved in line with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and implement manufacturing processes for engine and transmission assembly lines.

- Prepare process sheets, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

- Evaluate and improve existing processes for cost, quality, and cycle time optimization.

- Develop plant and line layouts using CAD tools to ensure productive workflow.

- Plan, procure, and commission new equipment, tools, and fixtures for powertrain operations.

- Coordinate with vendors for installation and validation of equipment and automation systems.

- Participate in new product development (NPD) projects for manufacturability assessment.

- Ensure timely readiness of facilities and tooling for new model launches.

- Conduct process trials, validation, and PPAP activities.

- Lead Kaizen, Lean, and Six Sigma initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce rework.

- Implement mistake-proofing (Poka-Yoke) and line balancing improvements.

- Monitor and analyze process capability and performance data.

- Define specifications for jigs, fixtures, and special tools for engine/transmission assembly.

- Ensure timely calibration and maintenance of all tooling assets.

- Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams.

- Collaborate with design and R&D; teams for manufacturability feedback and improvements.





- Implement ergonomic and safety standards in all process designs.

- Ensure adherence to ISO/TS, IATF, and environmental regulations.

Key Skills & Competencies:

- Strong knowledge of engine and transmission assembly processes.

- Expertise in process planning, layout design, tooling, and automation.

- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Six Sigma.

- Hands-on experience in PFMEA, Control Plan, and PPAP documentation.

- Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, CATIA) and MS Office.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Educational Qualification:

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Automobile / Production Engineering.
