: Manager – Timber SectionPosition Overview

We are looking for an experienced and responsible Manager – Timber Section to oversee the complete operations of the timber division, including procurement, inventory, quality control, sales coordination, customer management, and team supervision. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of timber products, market trends, supplier management, and commercial operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesTimber Procurement & Sourcing

- Manage the procurement and sourcing of timber, wooden materials, and related products.
- Identify and develop reliable suppliers and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions.
- Monitor timber market prices, availability, and industry trends.
- Ensure procurement is carried out in line with company requirements and budgets.

Inventory & Stock Management
- Monitor timber stock levels, inward and outward movements, and inventory accuracy.
- Ensure proper stacking, storage, identification, and preservation of timber.
- Conduct regular physical stock verification and reconcile discrepancies.
- Minimize wastage, damage, deterioration, and unnecessary inventory holding.

Quality Control
- Inspect timber for species, grade, size, moisture content, quality, and defects.
- Ensure materials received from suppliers meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with the quality team to resolve material-related issues.
- Maintain proper records of timber quality and inspection reports.

Sales & Customer Management
- Coordinate with the sales team to achieve timber section sales and revenue targets.
- Develop new customers and maintain relationships with existing customers.
- Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable timber products.
- Support pricing, quotation, negotiation, and order fulfillment activities.
- Handle customer complaints and ensure timely resolution.

Team & Operations Management




- Supervise and manage timber section staff, including sales, warehouse, and handling personnel.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor employee performance.
- Ensure safe handling, loading, unloading, and movement of timber.
- Maintain discipline, productivity, and proper workplace practices within the section.
- Train and guide team members on timber products, quality, and operational procedures.

Reporting & Administration
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales, procurement, stock, and operational performance.
- Monitor profitability, margins, expenses, and overall section performance.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to purchases, sales, inventory, and suppliers.
- Coordinate with Accounts, Purchase, Stores, Logistics, and Management as required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business Management, Timber Technology, Forestry, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant experience in timber trading, wood products, building materials, or a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of timber species, grades, sizes, quality, and applications.
- Good understanding of procurement, inventory, sales, and commercial operations.
- Robust negotiation and supplier-management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-handling abilities.
- Leadership and team-management skills.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and inventory/ERP systems is preferred.
