ABOUT TAXMANTRA GLOBAL
Taxmantra Global (TMG) is an award-winning global firm specialising in cross-border corporate services, providing tailored solutions to businesses worldwide. Our expertise spans Global Expansion, Cross-Border Accounting & Tax, Transaction Advisory, and CFO Suite services. We help businesses navigate complex regulatory and financial challenges while enabling sustainable growth in a constantly evolving global economy.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are hiring a Senior Manager/ Manager – Taxation to own end-to-end direct tax, indirect tax, and books-of-accounts finalisation for a substantial client portfolio, while leading a delivery team of 10–12 professionals. This is a senior, people-leadership role: you will be the final technical checkpoint before client sign-off and the primary career and delivery manager for your team, not an individual-contributor tax role with reporting responsibilities bolted on.
The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise across direct tax and GST, is comfortable finalising books of accounts independently, and has working exposure to basic transfer pricing and cross-border/international taxation — gained either through client work or through working alongside a specialist team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Tax
- Independently manage direct tax compliance, planning, and advisory for a portfolio of corporate and cross-border clients.
- Review and finalise income tax computations, returns, and tax positions taken by the team.
- Handle income tax notices, assessments, and departmental proceedings, including drafting responses and representing at hearings where required.
- Identify tax risk and planning opportunities proactively for clients and escalate material exposures to the Principal.
Indirect Tax (GST & TDS)
- Own GST compliance end-to-end: GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, annual returns (GSTR-9/9C) and reconciliations for the portfolio.
- Review and resolve GST reconciliation discrepancies before they reach the client.
- Oversee TDS compliance, filings, and correction workflows across the team.
- Manage GST and TDS notices and departmental queries end-to-end.
Finalisation of Accounts & Financial Reporting
- Independently finalise books of accounts, financial statements, MIS, schedules, and reconciliations for clients of varying complexity.
- Ensure accurate, on-time month-end and year-end closures across the portfolio.
- Identify accounting discrepancies early and drive timely resolution with the team and the client.
- Support and coordinate statutory and internal audits, including liaising directly with auditors.
Transfer Pricing & Cross-Border Taxation
- Apply working knowledge of basic transfer pricing concepts — arm's length principle, benchmarking basics, Form 3CEB requirements — to flag and route TP-relevant transactions correctly.
- Support cross-border tax compliance and advisory for clients with international structures (Singapore, US, Dubai, and similar corridors).
- Coordinate with internal specialists and, where needed, external counsel on cross-border structuring, withholding tax, and DTAA positions.
- Build sufficient fluency in international tax fundamentals to review team output critically and identify when a matter needs specialist escalation.
Team & Client Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 10–12 accounting and taxation professionals across multiple client engagements.
- Own resource allocation, workload planning, and delivery quality across the team — this is a true managerial role with direct accountability for team output, not just technical review.
- Set and track individual goals for team members; conduct regular one-on-ones and performance conversations.
- Act as the senior client-facing point of contact for escalations, complex queries, and relationship management within the portfolio.
- Drive process discipline, documentation standards, and continuous improvement within the practice.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Qualification
- Chartered Accountant (CA) — strongly preferred.
- Company Secretary (CS) or Cost & Management Accountant (CMA) with solid, demonstrable direct tax, GST, and accounts finalisation experience will also be considered.
Experience
- 10–12+ years of relevant post-qualification experience in a CA firm, tax consultancy, or in-house tax/finance leadership role.
- Strong, hands-on experience across direct tax, indirect tax (GST/TDS), and finalisation of books of accounts — non-negotiable across all three.
- Working exposure to basic transfer pricing and cross-border/international taxation; deep specialisation not required, but working fluency is.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing a team of 10 or more professionals, with clear ownership of delivery outcomes.
- Prior experience serving international or cross-border clients (Singapore, US, UK, Middle East) is a strong plus.
WHAT WE VALUE
- Ownership Mindset — takes complete responsibility for the team’s outcomes, not just personal deliverables.
- Technical Breadth — credible across direct tax, indirect tax, and accounts finalisation, with the judgment to know when to escalate on TP and cross-border matters.
- People Leadership — has actually run a team this size before; can mentor, allocate work, and hold people accountable.
- Client Orientation — comfortable as the senior escalation point for demanding, cross-border clients.
- Attention to Detail — maintains accuracy under volume and deadline pressure.
- Adaptability — works well in a fast-paced, globally oriented, founder-led environment.
WHY JOIN TMG?
- Own a substantial book of cross-border and domestic clients with real P&L; and team accountability.
- Direct exposure to international taxation, transfer pricing, and cross-border structuring alongside core direct/indirect tax work.
- Lead and build out a team of 10–12 professionals within a growing, founder-led firm.
- Clear path to Principal-level leadership as TMG scales through its FY26–30 growth phase.
