Railway Demurrage (DC) Manager for kolkata Head Office with AKA

AKA Logistics is looking for an experienced skilled with strong expertise in Indian Railways and Demurrage Charge management.

The role will be based at the Kolkata Head Office and will involve managing railway-related commercial matters and coordinating with Indian Railways Headquarters, Zonal Offices, Divisional Offices, and railway authorities.with a key focus on Demurrage Charges (DC) reduction, and operational matters waiver/remission, and cost optimization for coal-handling operations across 35-40 power stations.

Key Responsibilities

- Liaise with Indian Railways Headquarters, Zonal Offices, Divisional Offices, and railway authorities on demurrage and operational matters.
- Monitor and control Demurrage, Detention, Wharfage, and other railway-related charges.
- Drive waiver/remission and settlement of eligible Demurrage Charges through effective representation, negotiation, documentation, and follow-up.
- Coordinate with coal-handling, logistics, plant, commercial, for timely resolution of railway issues.




- Identify recurring causes of demurrage and implement cost-reduction and operational improvement measures.
- Maintain MIS and provide management updates on demurrage exposure, recovery/waiver, pending cases, and savings.
- Develop strong professional relationships with Government and private-sector stakeholders.

Experience & Skills

- 10-15 years of experience in Indian Railways liaison, railway commercial operations, coal logistics, demurrage management, or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of Indian Railway rules, demurrage procedures, rake movement, detention, claims, and waiver/remission processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, coordination, and stakeholder-management skills.

Education

- Graduate in Engineering or Commerce (B.E./B.Tech/B. Com) from a recognized university.
