Key highlights of the role are listed below (purely indicative and not limiting):
- Define the automation strategy and roadmap for the QA function; own the automation framework architecture for web (Selenium WebDriver/Playwright) and mobile (Appium) applications.
- Lead, mentor and review the work of QA/automation engineers; drive coding standards and design patterns (Page Object Model) across the team.
- Drive automation of functional, regression and end-to-end test cases across mobile (Android & iOS) and web platforms — business workflows, transactions, statements, OTP flows and payment interfaces.
- Design and oversee API automation suites (RestAssured, Postman/Newman) for backend, payment gateway and CRM integrations.
- Own integration of automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps) for scheduled runs and on-commit feedback.
- Plan and execute performance/load testing (JMeter/Gatling) on critical transaction and payment flows; analyze results, identify bottlenecks and work with engineering on remediation.
- Drive automated regression ahead of every release and automated post-production sanity/smoke checks on critical flows immediately after go-live.
- Plan sprint-wise test and automation activities in collaboration with product and engineering teams; track progress and remove blockers for the team.
- Oversee defect triage, prioritization and closure across manual and automation-detected issues; support business users during UAT.
- Present automation coverage, quality metrics and release-readiness to stakeholders and leadership on a regular cadence.
Applicants should possess the following attributes:
- Experience in software testing, QA/automation team.
- Proven hands-on expertise building and scaling test automation frameworks — Selenium WebDriver/Playwright (web) and Appium (Android/iOS mobile).
- Strong programming/scripting ability in Java, Python or JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience automating APIs using RestAssured, Postman/Newman, or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience with performance/load testing tools such as JMeter, including test design, execution and bottleneck analysis.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD tools — Jenkins, GitLab CI — for pipeline integration.
- Hands-on experience with Git for version control.
- Exposure to cloud device/browser testing platforms such as BrowserStack or LambdaTest.
- Mandatory BFSI domain experience, especially in credit cards, internet/mobile banking, loans or insurance workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and grow a QA/automation team, and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodology and QA best practices.
- Automation: Selenium WebDriver, Appium, Playwright/Cypress (valuable to have)
- API Testing: RestAssured, Postman, Newman
- CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab CI
- Languages: Java, Python or JavaScript
