Maintenance Engineer / Technician – Mechanical | Extrusion & Polymer Compounding

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer/Technician with experience in industrial machinery, preferably from the polymer compounding, plastic processing, extrusion or masterbatch industry. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining extrusion and auxiliary equipment, ensuring machine availability, minimizing breakdowns and supporting smooth production operations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

- Carry out preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of twin-screw extrusion lines, auxiliary equipment and other plant machinery to ensure maximum machine availability.
- Handle installation, inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting of twin-screw extruders, gravimetric feeders, auto-feeding systems, kneaders, moulding machines and material-handling equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults involving motors, gearboxes, bearings, couplings, shafts, pumps, valves, heaters, pneumatic systems and other machine components.
- Conduct regular machine inspections, identify abnormal conditions and take timely corrective action to prevent breakdowns and recurring failures.
- Coordinate with Production for machine readiness, planned maintenance, breakdown resolution and shift requirements, ensuring minimum production downtime.
- Monitor and improve maintenance performance through breakdown analysis, MTBF, MTTR and preventive maintenance planning, with focus on reducing downtime and improving equipment reliability.
- Support maintenance and operational requirements of plant utilities including air compressors, chillers, cooling towers, pumps and DG sets, with primary responsibility for mechanical aspects.
- Support new machine installation, commissioning, machine modification and equipment improvement projects, ensuring proper alignment,



installation and operational readiness.
- Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance, breakdowns, machine history, spare-parts consumption and maintenance activities, and provide timely reports to the Maintenance In-charge.
- Ensure availability of critical mechanical spares, tools and consumables, coordinate with Stores/Purchase for timely replenishment and maintain proper control of maintenance inventory.
- Follow all SOPs, safety procedures, PPE requirements, 5S and preventive maintenance standards, and ensure safe working practices during maintenance and breakdown activities.
- Identify recurring equipment problems, participate in Root Cause Analysis and corrective actions, and contribute to continuous improvement of machine reliability, safety and maintenance efficiency.

Required Skills & Technical Competencies

- Strong hands-on experience in industrial mechanical maintenance, preferably in extrusion, polymer compounding, plastics or masterbatch manufacturing.
- Practical experience with twin-screw extruders and polymer processing equipment will be strongly preferred.
- Good knowledge of mechanical systems including gearboxes, bearings, motors, pumps, couplings, shafts, pneumatic systems, valves and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and understand basic mechanical drawings, equipment manuals and maintenance instructions.

Qualification & Experience

- Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or ITI Fitter.
- 5 - 10 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience.
- Candidates with experience in polymer compounding, colour masterbatch, plastic extrusion or plastic processing plants will be preferred.
- Hands-on experience with European and Indian make extrusion machinery will be an added advantage.
- Candidates should be comfortable working in a manufacturing setting and rotational shifts.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
