Position: Sales & Operations Manager Freight Forwarding
Department: Sales / Operations / Logistics

Key Responsibilities 1. End-to-End Shipment Execution
- Manage daily import and export operations across air, ocean (FCL/LCL), and domestic transport from booking through final delivery.
- Ensure shipments are executed within agreed timelines, service levels, and cost parameters.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth shipment movement.
2. Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute strategies to acquire new customers and expand the companies freight forwarding business.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across import, export, air freight, ocean freight, FCL/LCL, and domestic logistics.
- Generate leads through market research, networking, customer referrals, industry contacts, and direct business development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Conduct client meetings, understand logistics requirements, and propose suitable freight solutions.
- Prepare commercial quotations, negotiate pricing, and close recent business opportunities.
- Achieve monthly and annual sales, revenue, and gross-margin targets.
3. Customer Relationship & Account Management
- Act as a key point of contact for major customers and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Understand customer requirements and develop customized logistics solutions.
- Conduct regular customer follow-ups to identify additional business opportunities and improve retention.
- Handle customer escalations and coordinate with operations teams to resolve service issues quickly.
- Develop existing accounts through cross-selling and upselling of freight and logistics services.
4. Pricing, Costing & Profitability
- Prepare competitive freight quotations and rate proposals for customers.
- Negotiate rates with shipping lines, airlines, transporters, agents, and other logistics vendors.
- Maintain healthy gross margins and monitor profitability on individual shipments and customer accounts.
- Evaluate market freight rates and competitor pricing to maintain a competitive commercial position.
- Work closely with operations and finance teams to control costs, billing accuracy, and revenue leakage.
5. Compliance & Documentation
- Oversee critical shipping and customs documentation, ensuring adherence to local and international trade regulations.
- Ensure proper handling of Bills of Lading, Bill of Entry, Shipping Bills, E-Sanchit, customs documentation, and relevant customs portals.
- Coordinate with documentation teams and customs brokers/CHAs to minimize errors and clearance delays.
6. Carrier & Vendor Management
- Negotiate competitive freight rates, service contracts, and space allocations with shipping lines, airlines, and local transporters.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, overseas agents, transporters, and other logistics partners.
- Evaluate vendor performance, service quality, and commercial competitiveness.
7. Stakeholder Coordination
- Maintain smooth communication with customers, overseas agents, customs brokers (CHAs), port authorities, terminal operators, carriers, and transporters.
- Coordinate sales commitments with operations to ensure customer requirements can be delivered efficiently.
- Proactively address potential clearance, documentation, or transportation bottlenecks.
8. Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, train, and supervise sales, operations coordinators, and documentation specialists.
- Set clear individual and team targets for sales, customer service, shipment execution, and operational performance.
- Track daily and monthly KPIs and provide coaching to improve team productivity and performance.
9. Problem Solving & Escalations
- Proactively manage service disruptions, routing changes, carrier delays, customs issues, and customer escalations.
- Provide timely solutions to operational and commercial challenges while protecting customer relationships and company margins.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams during critical or high-value shipments.
10. Process Optimization & Business Growth
- Develop and improve SOPs for sales, customer onboarding, shipment execution, documentation, and vendor coordination.
- Identify opportunities to reduce operational errors, improve turnaround times, increase customer satisfaction, and improve profitability.
- Use operational and sales data to identify trends, improve conversion rates, and increase revenue per customer.
- Work closely with the Director to develop and implement strategies for overall business growth.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 Years Experience in sales within the logistics, freight & forwarding, or shipping industries.
- Strong knowledge of Export & Import documentation, shipping process and international trade regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and client relationship management skills
