- We are hiring Mortgage Underwriters with experience in Live Underwriting and/or Post Closing Underwriting Review within the US Mortgage domain.
- The candidate will be responsible for reviewing mortgage loan files, validating borrower eligibility, assessing risk, and ensuring compliance with agency, investor, and regulatory guidelines.
- The role requires robust expertise in income calculation, credit analysis, asset review, collateral evaluation, and mortgage documentation review.
- Candidates with exposure to post-closing audits, re-underwriting, quality reviews, and compliance reviews are also encouraged to apply.

Essential Job Functions:

Live Underwriting

- Perform end-to-end underwriting of residential mortgage loan files.
- Review borrower credit, income, assets, collateral, and liabilities.
- Evaluate loan eligibility based on agency and investor guidelines.
- Analyze tax returns, W-2s, pay stubs, bank statements, appraisal reports, and other supporting documents.
- Calculate income and debt-to-income (DTI) ratios accurately.
- Identify and assess potential credit and compliance risks.
- Issue underwriting decisions, conditions, approvals, suspensions, or denials.
- Ensure adherence to applicable lending policies and mortgage regulations.
- Work closely with processors, closers, and operations teams for condition clearing and loan approvals.

Post Closing Underwriting / Review




- Conduct post-closing reviews of closed mortgage loan files.
- Re-underwrite loans to ensure compliance with agency, investor, and client guidelines.
- Identify underwriting defects, documentation deficiencies, and compliance exceptions.
- Review accuracy of income calculations, asset verification, credit decisions, and collateral assessments.
- Validate loan data against source documents.
- Prepare detailed audit findings and defect reports.
- Support quality control, compliance, and risk management initiatives.
- Escalate material findings and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- 1-2 years of experience in US Mortgage Underwriting, Live Underwriting, Post Closing Underwriting, Loan Review, Quality Control, or Mortgage Operations.
- Sound knowledge of Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and Jumbo loan products.
- Understanding of Client and Freddie Mac guidelines.
- Experience reviewing loan documentation and mortgage compliance requirements.
- Strong knowledge of income calculation, credit assessment, and mortgage risk evaluation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and mortgage workflow systems.

Preferred Skills
- Experience in Agency and Non-Agency loan reviews.
- Knowledge of TRID, RESPA, TILA, and mortgage compliance requirements.




- Exposure to Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), or Post Close Audit processes.
- Experience handling investor-specific review requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple loan files while maintaining quality and turnaround expectations.

Education
- Graduate in any discipline.
- Mortgage certifications will be an added advantage.
