About The Job:

- To lead the end-to-end migration of critical banking databases from legacy Oracle Solaris (SPARC/x86) platforms to Linux (RHEL) environments.

- You will ensure data integrity, minimal downtime, and optimal performance tuning on the target Linux infrastructure.

Essential Job Functions:

Migration Strategy

- Design and execute migration paths for complex database landscapes, choosing between RMAN Cross-Platform Transportable Tablespaces (XTTS), Data Guard (Physical Standby), or Data Pump based on database size and downtime constraints.

Environment Preparation

- Configure and harden target Linux servers.

- This includes managing kernel parameters, HugePages, and sysctl settings tailored for database workloads.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

- Use Ansible or Terraform to automate the provisioning of Linux environments, ensuring consistency across Dev, UAT, and Production.

Performance Benchmarking

- Compare SQL execution plans and system throughput between Solaris and Linux to identify and resolve performance regressions post-migration.

Storage & Networking:

- Manage the transition of storage from Solaris ZFS/UFS to Linux-native file systems or ASM.

- Troubleshoot network latency issues across the migration pipe.

Qualifications

- Min years of experience 7 – 8+

Required Skills and Experience

- Technical Skills Required

- Linux Expertise (Target Platform)

- Deep knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

- Proficiency in system administration: Process management (systemd), storage (LVM,



multipath), and security (SELinux).

- Strong Shell Scripting (Bash/Python) to automate migration tasks and system checks.

- Solaris Expertise (Source Platform)

- Understanding of Solaris-specific features like Zones/LDOMs, ZFS, and DTrace.

- Familiarity with Solaris legacy commands and their Linux equivalents (e.g., truss vs strace, snoop vs tcpdump).

- Database Knowledge

- Expertise in Oracle Database (12c/19c) architecture.

- Experience with Endian conversion (Solaris SPARC is Big-Endian; Linux is Little-Endian).

- Hand-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate for zero-downtime migrations.
