Role Description The Legal Compliance Manager is a full-time, in office role based in Bengaluru. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance frameworks that align with applicable laws and regulations across all aspects of Boba Bhai’s operations. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring regulatory changes, assessing compliance risks, drafting and reviewing legal and policy documents, and ensuring adherence to food safety, labor, data protection, and commercial regulations.

The Legal Compliance

Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, provides compliance training and guidance, supports internal audits, and manages communication with external legal advisors and relevant authorities. The role also involves investigating potential compliance issues, recommending corrective actions, and supporting the creation of internal controls and reporting mechanisms.

Key Responsibility

-Contracts & Commercial Legal

•⁠ ⁠Draft, review, negotiate and amend agreements with vendors, suppliers, landlords, agencies, aggregators, consultants and business partners.





•⁠ ⁠Identify legal and commercial risks and provide practical recommendations.

•⁠ ⁠Maintain standard agreements, templates and a central contract repository.

•⁠ ⁠Ensure contractual obligations are properly tracked and managed.

-QSR Legal & Regulatory Compliance

- Own and manage the legal and regulatory compliance framework across Boba Bhai's stores and operations.
- ⁠Oversee FSSAI licensing and food-safety related compliances across locations.
- Manage applicable Shops & Establishments, labour, POSH, fire safety, municipal/trade licence and other store-level regulatory requirements.
- Advise on food packaging, labelling, consumer protection and advertising/marketing requirements.
- Maintain a compliance calendar and ensure timely renewals, registrations and filings.
- Coordinate with external consultants and legal advisors wherever specialised support is required.

-Legal Notices & Disputes

•⁠ ⁠Draft and issue legal notices and respond to notices received by the company.

•⁠ ⁠Handle contractual breaches, vendor disputes, landlord matters, claims and other legal escalations.

•⁠ ⁠Negotiate resolutions and manage external lawyers for litigation/arbitration where required.

-Leases & Expansion

•⁠ ⁠Review and negotiate LOIs, lease agreements and related documentation.





•⁠ ⁠Work with the Expansion and Operations teams on legal requirements for new stores.

•⁠ ⁠Ensure required licences, registrations and approvals are tracked as part of the store-opening process.

-Business Advisory

•⁠ ⁠Act as the primary legal point of contact for the business.

•⁠ ⁠Provide practical legal advice to founders and functional teams.

•⁠ ⁠Proactively identify risks and develop SOPs/checklists to improve legal and compliance processes.

Qualifications

•⁠ ⁠4–7 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with in-house experience.

•⁠ ⁠LLB/LLM from a recognised institution.

•⁠ ⁠Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills.

•⁠ ⁠Strong understanding of QSR/F&B; legal and regulatory requirements, particularly FSSAI and food-safety compliance.

•⁠ ⁠Understanding of labour, Shops & Establishments, POSH, consumer protection and other applicable business compliances.

•⁠ ⁠Experience handling legal notices, disputes and lease documentation.

•⁠ ⁠Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.

•⁠ ⁠Ability to independently assess risks and provide commercially practical solutions.

Preferred: Experience in QSR, F&B;, retail, hospitality, consumer businesses or other multi-location businesses.

The Ideal Candidate

Someone who can own legal matters end-to-end — from reviewing and negotiating contracts to handling notices, disputes, landlord discussions and ensuring our stores remain compliant as we expand.

We are looking for a business-oriented lawyer who can help Boba Bhai scale quickly while protecting the company's legal and commercial interests.

Compensation: ₹16–20 LPA, depending on experience and fit.
