Position Purpose

The EHS compliance & MIS lead plays a critical role in ensuring the protected and environmentally responsible operation of pharmaceutical Manufacturing & Research Development centers. The primary purpose of this role is to provide specialized expertise to business to ensure their operations comply with EHS regulatory requirements and manage, develop and oversee the EHS Operations through documented MIS.

Strategic Responsibilities

- EHS Regulations and Compliance: Maintain deep knowledge of applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulatory requirements (MOEF, CPCB, SPCB, PESO, SEIAA, etc.) to guide site-wide compliance strategies.
- Environmental Stewardship: Develop and promote environmental sustainability initiatives aligned with national and global standards; drive a culture of environmental responsibility across the organization.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify systemic gaps in compliance, set long-term EHS improvement goals, and lead strategic initiatives to enhance site performance and risk resilience.
- Stakeholder Communication: Strategically engage with regulatory bodies, internal leadership, and external stakeholders to represent the organization's EHS compliance agenda and updates.

Operational Responsibilities

- Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct compliance audits and EHS risk assessments at sites, identify gaps, and collaborate with local teams to close them through actionable plans.
- EHS Data Management: Monitor, analyze, and maintain EHS compliance data using appropriate software tools; prepare periodic reports and dashboards for internal reviews and statutory submissions.
- Technical Knowledge Application: Apply domain expertise in laws such as BMW, ODS, E-waste, Battery waste, PIBO, etc.,



to ensure end-to-end compliance across different environmental domains.
- Management Information System (MIS): Implement site-level MIS systems for real-time compliance tracking; analyze trends and drive timely corrective actions.
- Project Management: Plan and execute EHS compliance-related projects (e.g., digital compliance systems, audit readiness), ensuring on-time delivery and coordination across departments.
- Audit Readiness and Execution: Lead preparation for internal and external audits (regulatory or corporate), ensuring readiness documentation and tracking of post-audit actions.

Financial Responsibilities

- Project Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Develop and manage budgets for compliance-related initiatives, including digital systems, training, and audit preparedness.
- Cost Avoidance through Compliance: Prevent regulatory fines, penalties, and production losses by proactively addressing non-compliance issues.
- Compliance Investment Planning: Recommend capital or operational investments needed for infrastructure upgrades (e.g., pollution control systems, software tools) to meet or exceed compliance requirements.

People Responsibilities

- Safety Training and Education: Design and deliver targeted training programs for site EHS teams and cross-functional stakeholders to build compliance awareness and capability.
- Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate effective communication and alignment with internal departments (production, engineering, QA) to embed compliance ownership at all levels.

Education Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering/Technology,



or Master’s degree in Environmental Science or Industrial Safety

Work Experience

10-15 Years of experience

Industry to be Hired from

Preferably from CRO/CDMO/Pharma company

- EHS Regulatory Compliance Management: Ability to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations (MOEF, CPCB, SPCB, PESO, etc.) and manage site readiness for inspections and audits.
- EHS Data & MIS Management: Ability to track, analyze, and report EHS data through MIS systems, ensuring accuracy, visibility, and timely decision-making.
- Compliance Audits & Risk Assessment: Ability to conduct audits, identify compliance gaps, and drive closure through structured action plans.
- Environmental Compliance & Sustainability: Ability to manage compliance related to waste, emissions, and environmental regulations while supporting sustainability initiatives.
- EHS Systems & Process Improvement: Ability to implement and improve compliance systems, digital tools, and processes for better monitoring and control.
- Stakeholder Coordination & Compliance Awareness: Ability to work with internal teams and regulators to ensure compliance understanding, training, and smooth execution.
