Roles and Responsibilities:
- Release of Information (ROI), for medical records in compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) policies
- Review and validate authorization forms to ensure legal compliance
- Retrieve medical records from EMR/EHR systems, paper charts, and legacy systems
- Ensure accurate disclosure of PHI based on request type (Patient, Attorney, Insurance, APS, Esquire, Government)
- Apply appropriate redactions where required
- Maintain confidentiality of all the patient records
- Meet productivity, turnaround time (TAT), and quality benchmarks
- Document actions and maintain audit trails for compliance purposes
