: Junior Embryologist
Position: Junior Embryologist
Department: IVF Laboratory / Andrology
Reports To: Senior Embryologist / Lab Director
Employment Type: Full-time
Role Overview The Junior Embryologist will support the senior laboratory team in the daily operations of the IVF and Andrology labs. The primary focus of this role is to ensure optimal laboratory conditions, perform essential andrology procedures, and assist in the preparation of gametes for ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) procedures, all while maintaining the highest ethical and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Andrology & Semen Processing (Primary Focus)
- Perform comprehensive semen analysis according to WHO guidelines (count, motility, morphology).
- Execute sperm preparation techniques (Swim-up, Density Gradient) for IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) and IVF/ICSI.
- Manage sperm cryopreservation (freezing) and thawing protocols.
- Maintain the donor sperm bank inventory and records.
2. IVF Lab Support & Preparation
- Dish Preparation: Prepare culture dishes with media for oocyte retrieval, insemination, and embryo culture under strict sterile conditions.
- Oocyte Screening: Assist senior embryologists in screening follicular fluid during oocyte retrieval (pick-up) procedures.
- Media Management: Monitor culture media stocks, expiration dates, and ensure proper cold chain storage.
3. Quality Control (QA) & Quality Assurance (QC)
- Perform daily equipment checks: Incubators (CO2/O2 levels, temperature), Laminar Air Flow hoods,
and microscopes.
- Monitor and log laboratory environmental parameters (VOCs, temperature, humidity) to ensure an optimal culture environment.
- Ensure rigorous sterilization and cleaning protocols are followed for all lab surfaces and equipment.
4. Documentation & Data Management
- Maintain accurate, real-time records of all laboratory procedures (patient details, gamete quality, embryo development) in the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system.
- Assist in generating lab reports for clinicians and patients.
- Ensure consent forms are verified and filed before any procedure begins.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education:
- M.Sc. in Clinical Embryology, Biotechnology, Zoology, or Reproductive Biology.
- A certificate course or diploma in Clinical Embryology is highly preferred.
- Experience: 0–2 years of experience in an IVF laboratory or Andrology lab. (Freshers with robust academic records and internship experience may be considered).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in microscope handling and pipetting.
- Solid understanding of gamete physiology and sterile techniques.
- Basic knowledge of micromanipulation is an added advantage.
- Key Attributes:
- High attention to detail and steadiness of hand.
- Ability to work under time pressure during critical procedure windows.
- Ethical mindset regarding handling of human gametes.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: ₹14,293.83 - ₹30,000.00 per month
