Job Title: Jig & Fixture Design Engineer

Job Summary:

Responsible for designing and developing jigs, fixtures, gauges, and tooling used for manufacturing and assembly processes. The engineer should understand manufacturing requirements, GD&T;, machining processes, and production needs to develop accurate, cost-effective, and easy-to-use fixtures.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design jigs, fixtures, gauges, and tooling for machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly.
- Study component drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
- Develop 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
- Apply GD&T;, tolerances, fits, and datum concepts in fixture design.
- Select suitable materials, fasteners, locating elements, clamps, bushes, pins, etc.
- Design proper locating and clamping mechanisms.
- Ensure component accessibility, repeatability, accuracy, and ease of loading/unloading.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Manufacturing, and Tool Room teams.
- Modify designs based on manufacturing feedback and trial results.
- Prepare BOM, fabrication drawings, and detailed assembly drawings.
- Support fixture trials,



troubleshooting, and improvements.
- Reduce setup time, manufacturing errors, and fixture cost through design improvements.
- Ensure designs are protected, practical, and suitable for mass production.

Software

- AutoCAD
- SolidWorks / Creo / CATIA / NX
- MS Office
- Basic knowledge of ERP/PDM is an advantage

Qualification:

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in jig & fixture design or tooling is preferred.
- Experience
- Freshers: Basic CAD + GD&T; + manufacturing knowledge.
- 1–3 years: Independent jig/fixture design and drawing preparation.
- 3+ years: Complete fixture development, trials, troubleshooting, and team coordination.
