Role Description (Instructional Designer — Aviation Maintenance Technician Training):

This is a full-time, remote Instructional Designer role on a high-volume eLearning redesign project for an aviation maintenance technician training program. The ID will conduct needs analysis to identify learning objectives and performance gaps within aviation operations and compliance contexts, then translate that analysis into daily-unit level storyboards, AI-assisted content authoring, and Canvas page content — working in close coordination with SMEs, Canvas builders, and media specialists.

This is a production-intensive role that demands both instructional rigor and the ability to maintain quality and consistency at scale — across approximately 320 learning units spanning 16 blocks.

Key Responsibilities:

- Author storyboards for DLUs across all five defined sections




- Review and refine AI-generated storyboard drafts for instructional accuracy, FAA handbook alignment, ACS code coverage, and pedagogical coherence
- Write structured Canvas page content drawn from FAA manuals and other source documents (handbooks, textbooks, slide decks) at greater depth than existing materials
- Brief Storyline developers on interactive requirements across seven defined templates, including Labeled Image Explorer, Step-by-Step Process Viewer, Calculation Walkthrough, and Drag-and-Drop Sorter
- Write formative assessment items with per-item explanatory feedback
- Incorporate internal SME and client SME feedback, and prepare storyboards for build handoff
- Conduct ID review of assembled DLUs within Canvas prior to QA
- Configure learning management (Canvas) settings to support delivery and tracking
- Proactively flag content gaps, depth issues, or instructional misalignments across parallel block production streams
- Maintain consistency in instructional approach, tone, and structure across all 16 blocks
- Evaluate training effectiveness and refine content based on feedback and data

Skills and Requirments:

- Minimum 5 years of instructional design experience in eLearning or blended learning,



preferably with exposure to aviation or safety-critical industries
- Strong Needs Analysis and Learning Management skills to assess training requirements and manage delivery platforms
- Applied expertise in Instructional Design and Curriculum Development for structured, effective learning programs
- Strong storyboarding skills, with experience writing for both Canvas pages and interactive media
- Ability to work from regulatory handbooks, textbooks, and existing slide decks as source material
- Experience writing formative assessment items with per-item explanatory feedback
- Comfort with AI-assisted authoring workflows and structured prompt-based content generation
- Familiarity with LMS environments, preferably Canvas, and e-learning authoring tools (Articulate 360, Captivate, or similar)
- Strong written and visual communication skills, with close attention to detail and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Learning & Development, or a related field

Good to have skills:

- Experience with technical, vocational, or regulatory compliance content
