Company Description Ecomine is a DPIIT-recognized deep-tech startup focused on transforming mineral exploration in India through advanced AI and geophysical technologies. Its flagship platform, Spectropy, is a proprietary AI/ML prediction engine that integrates hyperspectral satellite imagery, hyperspectral drill-core data, and multiple geophysical datasets into a unified subsurface intelligence layer.
Using spectral unmixing, geophysical inversion, and deep-learning models tailored to Indian terrains, Spectropy generates high-confidence mineral prospectivity maps from surface to drill bit. The company replaces fragmented, costly exploration workflows with a data-driven, physics-informed approach that helps geoscientists and exploration teams know exactly where to drill and why.
Role Description This is a full time remote role for a Geophysicist - ML at Ecomine. The role involves designing and executing geophysical survey strategies, overseeing data acquisition, and collaborating with data engineers to ensure high-quality, well-documented datasets.
The Geophysicist will process and interpret geophysical data, contribute to inversion workflows, and work closely with ML specialists to integrate geophysical insights into Spectropy’s prediction engine. Day-to-day tasks include validating models against field data, refining subsurface interpretations, preparing technical reports and prospectivity maps, and supporting product improvements based on user feedback.
The role also requires cross-functional collaboration with geology, data science, and product teams to deliver reliable, actionable intelligence to exploration partners.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Geophysics and experience with Geophysical Surveys across methods such as magnetic, gravity, radiometric, and EM.
- Hands-on experience in Geophysical Data Processing and general Data Processing, including cleaning, filtering, inversion, and integration of multi-modal datasets.
- Practical expertise in field and lab Data Acquisition for geophysical measurements, with attention to data quality, calibration, and documentation.
- Proficiency with relevant geophysical and scientific software (e.g., Oasis montaj, MATLAB, Python, GIS tools) and familiarity with ML/AI workflows.
- Ability to interpret geophysical results in conjunction with geological and remote sensing data, and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or a related field; experience in mineral exploration is an advantage.
- Comfort working in a remote, fast-paced startup environment, with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Exposure to hyperspectral data, geophysical inversion techniques, or physics-informed machine learning models is highly beneficial.
