Duties & Responsibilities:

(1) The Fire Safety officer is responsible to the Security Head for advising on, co-ordinating and monitoring all fire precautions arrangements in hospital and all other premises.

(2) To develop, maintain and review policies, procedures, and systems to achieve the maximum fire safety compatible with the operational setting of the hospital and other facilities.

(3) To develop and maintain a regular programme of staff fire safety training and to maintain records of such training in co-ordination with the Training department.

(4) To carry out regular inspections of all the units with the concerned HOD’s, to ensure compliance with all statutory fire safety legislation.

(5) To ensure certification or exemption of premises under the Fire Service Act in co-ordination with engineering department.

(6) To formulate fire safety strategy and update from time to time

(7) Investigate, in conjunction with the Local Fire Authority and report to the Security Head the suspected cause of fires originating in hospital premises.

(8) To plan and conduct fire drill to all the staff across all units regularly and maintain drill report.

(9) To Monitor fire safety across the hospital and other other facilities and ensuring that contraventions of fire safety precautions, do not take place.

(10)



Ensuring that fire safety instructions are brought to the attention of their own staff and that every member of their department participates in fire precaution training minimum of once a year.

(11) Ensuring that all new staff, during orientation, are given basic familiarization training (to include fire procedures, means of escape and locations of Fire alarms, Firefighting equipment and assembly points) within their place of work.

(12) To coordinate with External agency for installing additional firefighting equipment’s across the hospital.

(13) To maintain handy fire extinguishers in ready condition throughout the hospital, Co-ordinate in the fire spot as fire response and cordon team and to originate fire incident report within 8 hrs for further investigation.

(14) Responsible for developing annual training plan and submit to HR dept.

(15) Responsible for other duties as assigned as and when required. These may include managing transport, periodical checks of all CCTV and remote monitoring systems etc.
