Field Quality Engineer (Electrical)

Job Title: Quality Engineer (Electrical) – Ground-Mount Solar

Department: Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)

Reports To: Project Manager/ HOD

Key Responsibilities

- Review electrical drawings, specifications, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and method statements.
- Inspect electrical installations, including:
- PV modules and string wiring
- DC and AC cable installation
- Cable trays and conduits
- String combiner boxes (SCBs)
- Inverters
- Transformers
- HT/LT switchgear
- Earthing and lightning protection systems
- Material Inspection Reports (MIRs).
- Conduct or witness electrical testing such as:
- Insulation Resistance (IR) Test
- Continuity Test
- Earth Resistance Test
- Cable Hi-Pot Test (where applicable)
- Polarity Test
- String Voc and Isc measurements
- Functional testing of inverters and protection systems
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, and relevant standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, IS).
- Identify non-conforming work, issue NCRs, and verify corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare punch lists and monitor closure before project handover.
- Maintain QA/QC records, test reports, inspection reports, and as-built documentation.
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with construction,



engineering, HSE, and commissioning teams to resolve quality issues.

Technical Skills

- Knowledge of solar PV electrical systems (DC and AC).
- Ability to read SLDs, electrical layouts, cable schedules, and wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, IS, and utility standards.
- Experience preparing QA/QC documents such as ITPs, MIRs, IRs, WIRs, NCRs, and punch lists.
- Familiarity with electrical testing equipment such as insulation resistance testers, earth resistance testers, multimeters, clamp meters, and continuity testers.
