Job Purpose

Responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability and productive operation of mechanical production equipment and utilities through preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance. The role will focus on minimizing equipment downtime, improving machine reliability and supporting continuous improvement activities in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Breakdown Maintenance

- Attend and troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns of production machinery.
- Identify root causes of recurring equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Minimize machine downtime and restore equipment to normal operation within the required time.
- Maintain breakdown history and downtime records.

2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

- Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules for production equipment.
- Conduct regular inspection of machines, mechanical components and critical equipment.
- Monitor equipment condition through vibration, temperature, lubrication and other condition-monitoring techniques.
- Ensure timely replacement of wear-and-tear components.

3. Production Machine Maintenance

- Maintain mechanical systems of CNC, VMC, machining centres, presses, conveyors and other automotive production equipment, as applicable.
- Troubleshoot and maintain gearboxes, bearings, shafts, couplings, pumps, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems and mechanical drives.
- Handle machine alignment,



lubrication and mechanical adjustments.
- Support installation, commissioning and trial runs of new machines.

4. Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems

- Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
- Maintain hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, pressure systems and piping.
- Maintain pneumatic cylinders, solenoid valves, FRL units, air lines and related components.
- Identify and rectify pressure, leakage and flow-related issues.

5. Machine Installation & Modification

- Support new machine installation, commissioning and relocation activities.
- Coordinate with machine suppliers/OEMs during installation and troubleshooting.
- Support machine modifications and improvement projects.
- Assist in developing jigs, fixtures and mechanical improvements where required.

6. Spare Parts Management

- Identify critical mechanical spare parts and maintain minimum stock levels.
- Prepare spare-parts requirements based on preventive maintenance plans.
- Coordinate with stores/purchase for timely availability of critical spares.
- Maintain equipment-wise spare-parts records.

7. Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement

- Conduct 5 Why, Fishbone, RCA and Kaizen activities for recurring breakdowns.
- Improve MTBF and reduce MTTR.
- Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability and maintenance efficiency.
- Participate in TPM and continuous improvement activities.

8. Maintenance Documentation





- Maintain preventive maintenance checklists and maintenance records.
- Prepare breakdown reports and equipment history cards.
- Track MTBF, MTTR, machine availability and downtime.
- Maintain daily/weekly/monthly maintenance reports.

9. Safety & Compliance

- Follow plant safety procedures during maintenance activities.
- Ensure proper LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) practices before maintenance work.
- Ensure machines are restored with proper safety guards and interlocks.
- Follow 5S and housekeeping standards within the maintenance area.

Preferred Manufacturing Experience Candidates from automotive component manufacturing / Tier-1 or Tier-2 manufacturing companies would be preferred, particularly those having experience with:
