Overview:
We are seeking an Editorial Coordinator to manage the peer review and editing pipeline for our open access, open source academic journal. This role sits at the center of the publication process — receiving submissions, coordinating review, and ensuring papers meet the journal's standards before publication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and log incoming manuscript submissions via the journal's open source platform
- Screen submissions for scope, formatting, and basic quality standards
- Assign papers to peer reviewers and track review timelines
- Compile reviewer feedback into clear, constructive comments for authors
- Copyedit accepted manuscripts for clarity, grammar, and style consistency
- Communicate with authors throughout revision cycles
- Maintain records of submission status and editorial decisions
- Ensure adherence to open access publishing standards and journal policies
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant field, or equivalent editorial experience
- Solid academic writing and editing skills
- Familiarity with peer review processes and academic publishing norms
- Experience with open source journal management systems a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple manuscripts and deadlines simultaneously
