Company Description The World Headache Society (WHS) is a global, independent organization dedicated to ensuring that every person with head, face, or neck pain can access effective treatment quickly and clearly. WHS delivers high-quality, low-cost training in headache medicine to licensed clinicians worldwide, prioritizing regions that have historically received less attention and investment.

Through online grand rounds, open house Q&A; sessions, and partnerships with other organizations, WHS expands access to expert knowledge and research in pain-related fields. A global network of Regional Directors, Country Ambassadors, and local Chapters supports collaborative learning and advocacy, while WHS Advocacy teams work directly with employers and organizations to educate and empower people living with headache conditions. WHS “Headache Medicine Connections,” an open-access, free-to-publish journal, underscoring its commitment to impartial, culturally inclusive, and cutting-edge approaches to care.

Role Description The Editorial Assistant will support the editorial operations of the World Headache Society, with a primary focus on activities related to the “Headache Medicine Connections” journal and other educational publications. This volunteer, unpaid role is based in Bangalore Urban and involves coordinating manuscript and content submissions, assisting with peer review workflows, and maintaining accurate editorial records.

Day-to-day responsibilities may include formatting and proofreading documents,



preparing correspondence with authors and reviewers and updating content on digital platforms.

The Editorial

Assistant will collaborate with the editorial team and other WHS officers to ensure timely publication timelines and consistent quality standards, while contributing to the Society’s mission of improving global access to headache medicine education.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong writing and editing abilities, including clear academic or scientific writing, accurate proofreading, and attention to detail in document formatting.
- Candidates should possess skills in content coordination and workflow management, such as organizing submissions, tracking deadlines, and maintaining structured editorial records.
- Candidates should possess basic digital and publishing skills, including familiarity with office productivity software, online collaboration tools, and content management or journal submission systems (experience with academic publishing platforms is an advantage).
- Candidates should possess effective communication and teamwork skills, including professional email communication, the ability to work with diverse global colleagues, and comfort engaging with clinicians and researchers.
- Relevant qualifications that would be beneficial include a degree or ongoing studies in fields such as life sciences, public health, medicine, psychology, English, journalism, or communications; prior experience in editorial work, academic publishing, or medical education; solid organizational skills; and an interest in global health, neurology, or pain medicine.
