Key Responsibilities

- Perform 2D ECHO, M-Mode, Doppler and Colour Doppler studies as instructed by the cardiologist.

- Prepare and position patients appropriately for echocardiography procedures.

- Explain the procedure to patients and ensure their comfort and cooperation.

- Verify patient identification, clinical history and test requisition before the procedure.

- Acquire high-quality cardiac images according to standard protocols.

- Assist cardiologists during Stress ECHO, TEE and other cardiac procedures, wherever required.

- Monitor the patient's condition during the procedure and immediately report any concerning observations to the cardiologist.

- Maintain accurate patient records, images, worksheets and test documentation.

- Upload/store images and patient information correctly in the hospital system.

- Operate, clean and perform basic maintenance of ECHO machines and accessories.

- Report equipment malfunction or technical issues promptly.

- Maintain cleanliness, infection-control and safety standards in the ECHO room.

- Coordinate with OPD, IPD, ICU, emergency and other departments for smooth patient flow.

- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow hospital policies and protocols.

- Support timely completion and reporting of ECHO studies.

- Follow applicable hospital quality and NABH standards.

- Participate in training and keep updated with advances in echocardiography technology and techniques.

Required Skills

- Good knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and basic pathology.

- Practical expertise in 2D ECHO, M-Mode, Doppler and Colour Doppler.





- Good image acquisition and machine-handling skills.

- Ability to identify technically inadequate images and repeat views when required.

- Good patient-handling and communication skills.

- Attention to detail and accurate documentation.

- Ability to work effectively with cardiologists, nurses and other healthcare staff.

- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

- Basic computer/Hospital Information System knowledge preferred.

Educational Qualification

Preferred:

- B.Sc.

Cardiac

Technology / Cardiovascular Technology

- Diploma in Cardiac Technology / Echocardiography

- Relevant certification/training in echocardiography

Freshers with relevant ECHO training/internship may also be considered, depending on the role.

Current

Indian hospital postings commonly specify Diploma/B.Sc. qualifications, with echocardiography experience or training preferred.

Experience

- Junior ECHO Technician: 0–2 years

- ECHO Technician: 2–5 years

- Senior ECHO Technician: 5+ years

Preferred Additional Experience

- Stress ECHO

- TEE assistance

- ICU/Emergency ECHO workflow

- Pediatric ECHO exposure

- Experience with modern ECHO machines and digital reporting systems
