Digital Twin Specialist

Scope of Work To bridge the gap between physical operations and virtual environments. You will be responsible for the end-to-end development and deployment of digital twin solutions, will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, integrate data from diverse sources, and ensure the digital twin accurately mirrors its physical counterpart. Your work will facilitate real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and strategic planning, ultimately contributing to the organization's operational excellence.

You will collaborate with various departments to translate business needs into technical requirements and develop robust digital twin models.

Job Responsibilities

Product Development & Digital Twin

- Create and develop digital twin models using industry-standard software and platforms.
- Build and maintain digital models and simulations of process systems, starting with the companys automation and systems products and extending to future the company products.
- Translate process flow diagrams, equipment data and operating logic into usable simulation models; test operating scenarios and identify design improvements.

Controls, Automation & Integration

- Integrate data from IoT sensors, databases, and simulations into the digital twin environment.
- Help build, troubleshoot, and maintain automated scripts, testing frameworks, or industrial control systems (like PLCs and SCADA) under senior supervision.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline deployment pipelines and reduce manual intervention for engineering teams
- Support PLC, HMI, sensor, actuator and industrial communications work, including logic review, I/O mapping, alarm handling and basic troubleshooting.
- Assist with integration of mechanical, electrical, controls and software components under the direction of senior engineers.
- Support the setup and maintenance of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and cloud/server infrastructure

Engineering Analysis & Software





- Use Python and appropriate engineering tools for data analysis, calculations, automation scripts, test utilities and performance reporting.
- Support development of monitoring dashboards, data capture and performance-validation methods for water, heat, energy, quality and system uptime.

Testing, Commissioning & Improvement

- Identify and resolve issues related to digital twin performance and data accuracy.
- Prepare and execute test plans for simulations, controls and integrated systems; investigate defects and document corrective actions.
- Support factory acceptance testing, site commissioning and post-installation optimization when required.
- Monitor system performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and implement proactive fixes that ensure high availability for end-users
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues to minimize downtime and maintain the integrity of production environments

Documentation & Cross-functional Support

- Work with engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to define requirements and ensure successful implementation.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of digital twin architecture, processes, and configurations.
- Maintain clear technical documentation, including system architecture, control narratives, test records, configuration logs and operating procedures.
- Work with design, manufacturing, procurement, deployment and service teams on defined engineering tasks and supplier coordination.
- Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions to ensure that all automation solutions adhere to industry best practices and security standards

Stakeholder Management:





- Collaborate with stakeholders to document technical requirements and translate them into efficient, automated system workflows.

Qualification and Experience

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Technical Foundation:

- Proficiency with Digital Twin technologies and platforms (e.g., Azure Digital Twins, AWS IoT TwinMaker, Unity, Unreal Engine).
- Strong data integration and data modeling techniques.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators and industrial automation; Siemens TIA Portal / STEP 7 exposure is preferred.
- Ability to use Python for engineering calculations, data analysis or automation.
- Exposure to CAD, robotics or process simulation, digital twins, industrial IoT or Industry 4.0 systems is desirable.

Experience:

- Preferably 1.5 years of experience would be an added advantage. Suitable for a graduate or early-career engineer. Academic projects, internships and practical laboratory work will be considered relevant experience.
