Job Summary
Job Name - GDS Digital Engineering I&E; Leader The establishment of a GDS Digital Engineering Leader for Industrial & Energy (I&E;) is essential to drive strategic growth and significantly increase GDS integration within I&E; accounts by shifting from a fragmented, competency-led delivery model to a solution-led, engineering-centric approach.
Industrial and Energy clients, including those in oil & gas, petroleum refining, renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro), utilities and power generation are accelerating transformation programs spanning modernization of legacy landscapes, cloud-native engineering, digital plant/asset and operations modernization, industrial data platforms, platform/product engineering, and cyber-resilient engineering. To capture this demand at scale, GDS requires a dedicated executive leader to:
- Define and execute an I&E-aligned; Digital Engineering strategy and GTM that addresses the unique challenges and regulatory environments of sub-sectors
- Increase GDS participation in large deals and RFPs, improving winrate and delivery confidence by leveraging domain-specific engineering solutions and compliance expertise.
- Build repeatable engineering capabilities and assets aligned to I&E; outcomes (including operational reliability, safety compliance, energy efficiency, cost optimization, and environmental sustainability.)
- Improve quality, predictability, and cost of delivery via standardized engineering governance.
Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with I&E; sector leaders, account leadership, and member firm stakeholders to influence pursuits and drive growth.
- Drive a solution & Field of Play-based operating model for I&E; engineering offerings.
- Build core team with industry insights and best practices
- Ensure GDS participation in large technology and transformation deals
- Participate in and lead key client orals, demonstrating EY/GDS engineering capability, assets, innovation, and delivery governance.
- Host I&E; clients/CxOs at GDS to showcase engineering studios,
accelerators, delivery excellence, and innovation.
- Build right-shoring models leveraging offshore/nearshore strengths to improve cost and speed while maintaining delivery quality.
- Set up strong delivery governance: engineering excellence, estimation discipline, risk controls, and predictable delivery metrics.
- Build and scale a core team and engineering leadership bench (SM/ED leaders) across key capability pods.
- Ensure all engineering solutions and delivery practices comply with industry-specific regulatory requirements, safety standards, and cybersecurity protocols.
- Own the financial performance of the I&E; digital engineering portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability management aligned with strategic growth objectives.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities
- Work across EY GDS, EY member firms, and enablement functions to solve complex client problems
- Bring multiple solution options; guide the client to outcome-based engineering roadmaps
- Apply creative, pragmatic, and technology-led approaches to address engineering modernization constraints
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and delivery-ready while meeting timelines and cost targets
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 22-25 years of qualified experience in technology consulting / digital engineering, including at least 8 years in senior leadership roles, with proven experience in I&E; contexts (Industrial Products, Manufacturing, Automotive, Oil & Gas, Renewables).
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- Leading large-scale engineering programs: modernization, cloudnative engineering, platform/product engineering, integration, DevSecOps,
QA Automation
- Strong grasp of I&E; priorities: operational efficiency, asset reliability, safety, compliance, resilience, and cost optimization
- Experience selling and delivering large programs using onshore/nearshore/offshore models
- Familiarity with proposal development, solutioning, pricing and commercial constructs to win in market
- Proven ability to manage multi-location teams and complex stakeholders
