About the role

We're hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to own the design, implementation, and operation of our cloud-native infrastructure on AWS. This is a hands-on senior role: you'll build the platform that our product teams ship on, set the standard for reliability and security, and raise the DevOps maturity of engineering across the organisation.

You'll work across architecture and day-to-day operations — provisioning infrastructure as code, running production Kubernetes, hardening our security posture, and making deployments fast and boring. If you enjoy turning fragile, manual environments into automated, observable, cost-efficient systems, this role is for you.

Key responsibilities

Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS

Ensure high availability and reliability, and maintain disaster recovery readiness through tested backup and failover plans

Automate infrastructure provisioning end to end using Infrastructure as Code

Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, including quality gates and environment promotion workflows





Operate and tune production Kubernetes clusters, including scaling, upgrades, and incident response

Optimise cloud spend and system performance without compromising reliability

Implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure, containers, and secrets management

Partner with development teams to improve deployment efficiency, developer experience, and release cadence

Monitor system health, set up meaningful alerting, and proactively resolve infrastructure issues

Document architecture, runbooks, and operational standards

Required technical skills

AWS (strong hands-on experience)

EKS, RDS, MSK (Kafka), ElastiCache (Redis), ECR, S3, VPC, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager

Infrastructure as Code

Terraform: reusable modules, remote state management, workspaces

Managing multi-environment infrastructure (dev, staging, production)

Kubernetes

Cluster setup, upgrades, and ongoing management

Helm charts for packaging and releases

RBAC design and implementation

Auto-scaling strategies (HPA, cluster autoscaler / Karpenter)

Troubleshooting and performance tuning

Containers

Docker, including multi-stage builds

Image size and build-time optimisation

Container security and vulnerability scanning

CI/CD
