- Experience: 4–8 Years
- The Senior Utility Tariff Developer will be responsible for developing, testing, maintaining, and enhancing precise and accurate calculation models for utility tariffs and rates using proprietary tools and technologies.
- These models form a critical component of the end products and therefore require strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, coding discipline, and a focus on accuracy.
- The role requires robust hands-on development capabilities, particularly in SQL and Python, along with the ability to understand complex data, business logic, and existing application workflows.
- The ideal candidate should be self-driven, technically strong, quick to learn new tools and technologies, and capable of independently taking ownership of development tasks from analysis through implementation and validation.

Essential Job Functions:

- Develop, enhance, test, and maintain utility tariff calculation models and associated application components.
- Analyze complex calculation requirements and translate business logic into accurate and maintainable technical solutions.
- Work extensively with SQL and relational databases for data analysis, transformation, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts/programs to support tariff modeling, data processing, validation, automation, and efficiency improvements.
- Analyze large and complex datasets to identify data issues, inconsistencies, and patterns that may impact tariff calculations.
- Validate input data received for modeling activities and identify discrepancies or data-quality issues.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to tariff logic, calculations, data processing, and internal tools/products.
- Work with cross-functional teams to analyze and resolve technical and functional issues.
- Perform validation and regression testing to ensure accuracy and reliability of tariff model changes.
- Investigate and resolve mismatches between calculated/shadow bills and actual bills by analyzing data, logic, and calculation outputs.
- Develop automation and process improvements using Python, SQL,



and other appropriate technologies to reduce manual effort, processing time, and potential errors.
- Participate in the complete development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Review existing processes and identify opportunities to improve scalability, reliability, maintainability, and efficiency.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for requirements, enhancements, processes, and implemented solutions.
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, QA, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and help improve development and modeling practices within the team.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications (Must Have)

- 6–10 years of relevant software development / data development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, aggregations, CTEs, and data analysis.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python for application development, data processing, automation, and scripting.
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts, data modeling, and database structures.
- Experience working with large datasets and performing data validation, transformation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand complex business logic and translate it into robust technical implementations.
- Experience debugging and resolving complex data and application issues.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Demonstrated ability to independently take ownership of development activities and deliverables.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies, tools, applications, and business processes.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)
- Exposure to utility, energy, billing, or tariff-related applications.
- Familiarity with basic utility tariff and rate concepts.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel,



including advanced formulas and pivot tables.
- Exposure to Excel macros, Power Query, or similar data-processing tools.
- Experience working with data analysis and data-driven applications.
- Experience with automation and process optimization initiatives.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Exposure to Shell scripting or other scripting technologies.
