The Design Applications Support Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and functional support for CAD/CAE applications used by the R&D; and engineering teams. The role involves application installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, user support, license management, CAD environment management, training, and coordination with OEMs/vendors.

The position will also support engineering activities related to 3D modeling, 2D manufacturing drawings, BOM preparation, design documentation, product detailing, design validation, and legacy CAD data management.

Key Responsibilities

- Installation, configuration, and environment setup of CAD/CAE applications.
- Perform software version upgrades, patch deployment, and application maintenance.
- Manage CAD templates, CAD standards, macros, and scripts.
- Provide day-to-day user support and resolve application-related technical issues.
- Administer CAD libraries and maintain component databases.
- Provide support for harness design environments and related applications.
- Prepare and update application documentation, user guides, SOPs, and training materials.
- Manage software licenses, including license allocation, usage monitoring, and performance monitoring.
- Manage application users and access rights.
- Conduct user training and support knowledge enhancement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot CAD/CAE software and coordinate resolution of technical issues.
- Coordinate with OEMs and software vendors for technical support, upgrades, issues, and new requirements.
- Manage incidents, service requests, problems, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Support 3D part modeling and complex assembly creation.
- Prepare and review 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T; as per applicable standards.
- Prepare BOMs and maintain design-related documentation.
- Support concept development and product detailing activities.




- Provide support for design validation and coordinate basic analysis activities.
- Perform legacy CAD data updates, corrections, and model improvements.
- Define, implement, and maintain SOPs for CAD/CAE applications.
- Ensure adherence to customer-specific design standards, processes, and engineering practices.
- Support evaluation and implementation of new tools/applications introduced within the R&D; environment.

Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of CAD/CAE application administration and user support.
- Experience in CAD environment setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of 3D part modeling and complex assembly creation.
- Knowledge of 2D manufacturing drawings and GD&T; standards.
- Experience in BOM preparation and engineering documentation.
- Understanding of concept development and product detailing.
- Knowledge of design validation and basic analysis coordination.
- Experience in legacy CAD data correction and migration/update activities.
- Positive understanding of CAD standards, templates, libraries, and engineering processes.
- Ability to perform technical troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis.
- Good communication and coordination skills for working with users, OEMs, and software vendors.

Software Tools / Applications Candidates with experience in one or more of the following tools will be preferred:
- PTC Creo Design Essentials / Advanced
- CATIA V5
- Siemens Capital
- AutoCAD
- MATLAB
- Rhino 3D
- 1D Kuli
- Other/new CAD/CAE tools used within R&D; environments

Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure effective application availability and performance for engineering users.
- Maintain application-related records, documentation, and knowledge repositories.
- Identify recurring issues and implement preventive measures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of CAD/CAE processes and workflows.
- Ensure compliance with defined engineering standards, SOPs, and customer requirements.
