We’re Hiring | Design Assistant

Raali is looking for a Design Assistant to join our creative team in Jodhpur.

We’re looking for a fashion/textile designer with a strong creative sensibility who is excited by Indian textiles, craft and the process of developing products from an idea into a finished piece.

This is a hands-on design role where you’ll work closely with the creative team on research, concept development, print and motif design, colour stories, collection development, sampling and product development.

What you’ll do

- Work closely with the creative team on the design and development of new collections and products.
- Develop prints, motifs, patterns, colour stories and textile layouts in line with Raali’s design language.
- Research Indian crafts, textiles, techniques, materials and local traditions, and translate this research into design ideas and collection concepts.
- Create moodboards, visual research, colour stories and collection/range plans.
- Sketch and develop design concepts and create digital renderings.
- Explore different ways of translating ideas into textiles and products through fabric, print, embroidery, appliqué, patchwork and other craft techniques.
- Visit local craft clusters and work directly with artisans to experiment, sample and develop potential products.
- Participate actively in the sampling and product development process, refining designs and documenting changes as they evolve.
- Develop and maintain product specifications, measurement sheets and tech packs as designs move towards production.
- Document the creative process, including studio work, sampling, craft techniques and finished products, through photographs and videos.
- Photograph and film samples and final products using a phone, and create simple visual content for Raali’s digital platforms.
- Create presentations and straightforward social media assets using Canva.




- Use Excel/Google Sheets to keep track of samples, design development and other relevant information.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a designer first — someone with a strong point of view, curiosity and the ability to turn research and ideas into actual designs.

You should

- Have a strong foundation in fashion/textile design and product development.
- Have a good understanding of colour, composition, pattern, proportion and materials.
- Be confident with sketching and developing design concepts.
- Have an interest in Indian textiles, crafts and traditional techniques.
- Be excited to experiment with materials and work directly with artisans.
- Have a good eye for visual storytelling and photography.
- Be comfortable photographing and filming your work using a phone.
- Be comfortable with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Canva.
- Have good computer skills and be comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets.
- Be organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to take a design from concept through sampling and development.
- Be curious, collaborative, resourceful and willing to get hands-on in the studio.

Experience & Education

We’re looking for someone with 1–3 years of relevant experience in fashion design, textile design, surface design, product design or a related field.

A degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Surface Design, Product Design, Fine Arts or a related discipline is preferred.

Fresh graduates with a strong design portfolio are also welcome to apply.

Your portfolio will be an important part of the application. We’re interested in seeing how you think and design — including sketches, prints, motifs, textiles, collections, experiments, sampling or other relevant work.
