Purpose of the Role:
To lead end-to-end production execution and delivery of vehicles across plants, ensuring achievement of SQPDCME targets. The role also supports product development and productionisation in collaboration with the ERC and Technical Services teams, while driving productivity, quality, safety, cost and workforce capability.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Prepare day-wise and shift-wise production plans aligned with PPC requirements.
- Ensure availability of manpower, materials, tools and equipment to meet production targets.
- Monitor production performance and proactively resolve/escalate constraints.
- Drive achievement of production volume, HPeV, MOP and JPH targets.
- New Product Development & Production
- Support ERC in product proving and provide manufacturing inputs for product development.
- Drive station readiness and ensure availability of machines, equipment and processes for production.
- Resolve manufacturing issues during product development and coordinate corrective actions.
- Drive WCQ initiatives and continuous improvement.
- Deliver BBO targets and achieve required station readiness.
- Quality Management
- Drive resolution of daily process and product quality issues.
- Incorporate internal and external customer feedback into production improvement plans.
- Coordinate with Quality and Maintenance teams on corrective actions and closure.
- Drive improvements in DRL/DIFTR, PDI, PQI, SLA, audit and TCF DPV performance.
- Productivity & Continuous Improvement
- Eliminate NVA/ENVA through line balancing, Kaizen, FPBP and other improvement initiatives.
- Optimise line design and processes to achieve desired takt time.
- Minimise line setup losses and downtime.
- Drive kitting and material-flow improvements to enhance productivity.
- Achieve MOP, HPeV and year-on-year downtime improvement targets.
- Manpower Management & Development
- Plan workforce requirements across permanent, contractual, trainee and flexi manpower.
- Ensure workforce readiness through classroom and on-the-job training.
- Monitor SDT formation and performance to drive productivity improvements.
- Ensure training compliance and effective onboarding of new employees.
- Shop Health & TPM
- Drive JH/KK TPM pillars and embed equipment-care practices across the workforce.
- Promote Quality Circle participation and employee involvement in improvement initiatives.
- Drive closure of quality and operational improvement actions.
- Participate in cross-functional ICR/ICM initiatives for cost and performance improvement.
- Monitor OEE and shop-floor improvement performance.
- Safety Management
- Ensure compliance with TML-defined safety standards and shop-floor requirements.
- Monitor SO compliance, near-miss reporting and AECT actions.
- Drive PPE compliance, safety awareness and on-the-job safety training.
- Proactively identify and mitigate safety risks.
- Achieve TRCFR and PSI targets.
- Cost Management
- Support preparation and management of the annual shop production budget.
- Monitor VCC performance and drive corrective actions.
- Control rejection, indirect material and tooling costs through targeted improvement initiatives.
- Drive achievement of maintenance budget and cost targets.
- Business & Cost Improvement Initiatives
- Drive cost reduction through TCS, VAVE and waste-reduction initiatives.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve cost per vehicle.
- Support achievement of WCQ and other strategic shop-level targets.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Qualification:
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, EnTC, Paint Technology or relevant engineering discipline.
Desired Work Experience:
12-18 years of experience in shop-floor/shop-technology operations, including 4–6 years of relevant production experience. Strong technical knowledge of production processes and the respective shop is essential.
