We are looking for an energetic, customer-focused, and experienced Department Manager to manage the overall operations and performance of an assigned retail department.

The selected candidate will be responsible for sales achievement, floor management, inventory control, customer service, team management, and operational compliance.

Candidates with relevant experience in Home, Fashion, Grocery/FMCG, or Fruits & Vegetables (F&V;) will be considered based on business requirements.

Categories The Department Manager may be assigned to any one of the following categories:

- Home: Home Decor, Kitchen, Household, Utility, Furnishings, Storage, etc.
- Fashion: Men's Wear, Women's Wear, Kids Wear, Ethnic Wear, Footwear, Accessories, etc.
- Grocery: FMCG, Staples, Packaged Food, Beverages, Personal Care, Household Consumables, etc.
- Fruits & Vegetables (F&V;): Fresh Fruits, Vegetables and other fresh produce.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Floor Management

- Drive daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets for the assigned department.
- Monitor sales performance and take corrective actions to achieve targets.
- Maintain strong floor presence and actively engage with customers.
- Drive customer conversion, upselling, cross-selling, and average bill value.
- Ensure effective execution of promotional schemes, offers, and focus products.
- Monitor competitor activities and customer buying trends where applicable.
- Handle and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.

1. Inventory & Stock Management

- Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment.
- Track fast-moving, slow-moving, and non-moving products.
- Ensure proper inward, outward, stock transfer, and stock-count processes.
- Conduct regular stock audits and identify inventory discrepancies.




- Maintain optimum stock availability while minimizing excess and ageing inventory.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and product availability.
- Monitor and control stock loss, damage, and shrinkage.

1. Category-Specific Operations

- Home: Ensure proper product assortment, display, categorization, and replenishment.
- Fashion: Ensure size, colour, style, and assortment availability along with proper merchandise presentation.
- Grocery: Ensure product availability, expiry-date monitoring, FIFO/FEFO practices, and proper replenishment.
- F&V;: Ensure freshness, quality, grading, proper handling, availability, and effective wastage control.

1. Team Leadership & People Management

- Manage and lead the department sales team effectively.
- Prepare staff rosters, shifts, weekly-offs, and floor deployment.
- Conduct daily team huddles to communicate sales targets, promotions, and priorities.
- Train and mentor team members on product knowledge, selling techniques, customer handling, and SOPs.
- Monitor employee attendance, productivity, grooming, discipline, and performance.
- Motivate the team to achieve individual and department-level targets.

1. Customer Service

- Ensure a high standard of customer service across the department.
- Understand customer requirements and guide the team in providing suitable product recommendations.
- Resolve customer complaints and escalations effectively.




- Ensure customers receive accurate information regarding products, pricing, offers, and policies.
- Drive customer satisfaction and repeat business.

1. Operations & SOP Compliance

- Ensure compliance with all company SOPs and retail operating standards.
- Coordinate with Billing, Warehouse, Procurement, VM, Merchandising, and other departments.
- Ensure smooth opening and closing procedures.
- Coordinate with billing counters during peak hours to minimize customer waiting time.
- Implement loss-prevention and shrinkage-control measures.
- Maintain department reports, records, and operational documentation.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- 3-7 years of experience in retail store operations or department/floor management.
- Candidates from Home, Fashion, Grocery/FMCG, Supermarket, Hypermarket, Department Store, Lifestyle Retail, or F&V; backgrounds are preferred.
- Experience in handling a high-volume retail department will be an advantage.
- Strong sales and target-achievement orientation.
- Good knowledge of inventory management, stock replenishment, shrinkage control, and visual merchandising.
- Strong team-handling and leadership skills.
- Excellent customer-service and conflict-resolution abilities.
- High energy with solid floor presence and ownership.
- Willingness to work retail hours, weekends, holidays, and peak/festival seasons.
- Language: Fluent Tamil/Malayalam as applicable, with working knowledge of English.
