Role Overview We’re seeking a proactive Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and secure our PostgreSQL, Document DB, and analytical database ecosystems. You’ll design scalable architectures for multi-tenant SaaS environments, implement advanced PostgreSQL extensions, and enforce robust security protocols. Your work will directly enhance the performance, reliability, and innovation of our AI-driven data platform.

Key Responsibilities Database Management & Optimization:

- Administer and fine-tune PostgreSQL clusters for high availability, replication, and query performance (indexing, partitioning, vacuum optimization).
- Explore, evaluate, and implement PostgreSQL extensions (e.g. TimescaleDB for time-series, pg_partman for partitioning, pg_cron for job scheduling) to solve unique business needs.
- Manage Document DBs (MongoDB/Couchbase), including sharding, aggregation pipelines, and indexing strategies for big data workloads.
- Optimize analytical databases (ClickHouse, DuckDB) for fast query execution and large-scale data aggregation.

Security & Compliance

- Enforce security best practices: encryption (TDE, SSL), role-based access control (RBAC).
- Implement row-level security, data masking, and audit logging for sensitive data in multi-tenant environments.
- Design and execute disaster recovery strategies (backups, point-in-time recovery, failover clusters).

Multi-Tenancy & Scalability

- Architect and manage multi-tenant database architectures using schema isolation, tenant-aware partitioning, or shared tables with tenant IDs.
- Ensure resource isolation and performance consistency across tenants in SaaS environments.
- Collaborate with developers to design tenant-specific optimizations (e.g., dynamic data partitioning).

Collaboration & Innovation





- Work with backend teams to optimize ORM queries, design effective schemas, and integrate databases with Django/FastAPI.
- Partner with DevOps to automate deployments, scaling, and monitoring (Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus/Grafana).
- Research and prototype cutting-edge database technologies (e.g., vector databases for AI/ML workloads).

Requirements

- 3+ years of hands-on Database Administration experience, preferably in SaaS or big data environments.
- Expertise in PostgreSQL: query optimization, extensions, replication, and backup strategies.
- Proficiency in designing and securing multi-tenant database architectures.
- Strong experience with Document DBs (MongoDB/Couchbase): sharding, indexing, and aggregation frameworks.
- Knowledge of security practices: encryption, RBAC, vulnerability mitigation (SQL injection, insecure APIs).
- Familiarity with analytical databases (ClickHouse, DuckDB) and cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Azure Database).
- Ability to troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in large datasets (10M+ rows).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

Nice-to-Have

- Certifications: PostgreSQL Professional Certification, MongoDB Certified DBA, or cloud DB certifications (AWS/Azure).
- Experience with PostgreSQL extensions (e.g., pg_stat_statements, Citus for distributed scaling).
- Exposure to AI/ML data pipelines or vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus).
- Scripting skills (Python, Bash) for automation and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Knowledge of DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes operators for stateful workloads).
