Key Responsibilities
- Eye Donation Counselling
- Counsel relatives of deceased persons regarding the importance and advantages of eye donation.
- Explain the eye donation process, eligibility criteria, and procedures in a simple and sensitive manner.
- Address concerns, doubts, myths, and misconceptions related to eye donation.
- Motivate eligible families to consider eye donation and support them in making an informed decision.
- Approaching Bereaved Families
- Approach the relatives of deceased patients at the appropriate time and in a respectful manner.
- Communicate with compassion while understanding the emotional condition of the family.
- Obtain consent for eye donation as per institutional and Eye Bank procedures.
- Ensure that the counselling process is conducted ethically and without pressure.
- Coordination with Eye Bank Team
- Immediately communicate confirmed eye donation requests to the Eye Bank technical team.
- Coordinate with the medical, nursing, mortuary, and other concerned departments whenever required.
- Ensure timely communication so that the eye donation procedure can be initiated within the required time frame.
- Assist the team in coordinating transportation or other arrangements related to the donation process, as applicable.
- Documentation and Records
- Maintain accurate records of counselling sessions and eye donation consents.
- Document donor details, family contact details, consent status, and referral information as per hospital policy.
- Maintain daily, monthly, and periodic reports related to counselling and eye donation activities.
- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of donor and family information.
- Awareness and Outreach
- Conduct awareness programmes on eye donation for patients, attendants, hospital staff, educational institutions, corporates, and the general public.
- Participate in Eye Donation Awareness campaigns and special observance programmes.
- Distribute educational materials and explain the importance of corneal donation.
- Support community outreach activities conducted by the Eye Bank.
- Follow-up and Coordination
- Follow up with families who have expressed interest in eye donation, wherever appropriate.
- Maintain a database of awareness activities, enquiries, pledges, and donations.
- Coordinate with concerned departments for referrals and potential donors.
- Provide feedback to the Eye Bank In-charge regarding counselling outcomes and challenges.
- Quality and Compliance
- Follow all institutional policies, Eye Bank protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and ensure accuracy of records.
- Participate in departmental meetings, audits, training programmes, and quality improvement activities.
- Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality at all times.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
