Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Cook to manage the preparation of fresh, hygienic, nutritious, and delicious food for patients, staff, and visitors at our healthcare centre.
The ideal candidate should have a genuine passion for cooking and be able to prepare food that is tasty, appealing, consistent in quality, and suitable for a healthcare setting. A key expectation of this role is to maintain excellent food quality and presentation so that patients and visitors enjoy the food and are encouraged to place repeat orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare fresh and hygienic breakfast, lunch, tea, snacks, and other food items as required.
- On appointment days, prepare breakfast orders for approximately 5–15 people on average, depending on daily requirements.
- Prepare lunch for approximately 10–15 people on average, with quantities adjusted according to orders received.
- Prepare tea, snacks, and light refreshments throughout the day as required.
- Follow standard recipes, portion sizes, hygiene practices, and food-safety procedures.
- Ensure food is served fresh, hot, well-presented, and on time.
- Maintain consistent taste and quality across all meals.
- Keep the kitchen, cooking equipment, utensils, storage areas, and work surfaces clean and organized.
- Manage ingredients carefully and minimize food wastage.
- Monitor stock of vegetables, groceries, spices, dairy products, and other kitchen supplies and inform management about replenishment requirements.
- Coordinate with the centre team regarding daily food orders and special dietary requirements.
- Take feedback from patients, visitors, and staff and continuously improve the taste, quality, and presentation of food.
- Suggest new breakfast, lunch, and snack options that can improve customer satisfaction and increase food orders.
- Maintain a positive and service-oriented attitude while preparing food for patients and visitors.
Key Performance Expectations The Cook will play an important role in growing the healthcare centre's daily food orders. The successful candidate is expected to:
- Prepare delicious, consistently good-quality food that patients and visitors enjoy.
- Encourage repeat orders through excellent taste, hygiene, presentation, and timely service.
- Help increase the number of daily food orders by maintaining high customer satisfaction.
- Introduce suitable new dishes and menu ideas based on customer preferences.
- Reduce complaints and food wastage through consistent quality and proper planning.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Cook, preferably in a healthcare centre, hospital, clinic, canteen, restaurant, or similar environment.
- Strong cooking skills and the ability to prepare breakfast/lunch dishes.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
- Ability to manage food preparation for small groups efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple food orders.
- Valuable time management and organizational skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to take feedback.
- Most importantly, a passion for preparing delicious food and creating a positive food experience for patients and visitors.
