Content Writer & Editor – Children’s Publishing

Do you love children’s books? Do you enjoy coming up with stories, developing ideas and turning them into books?

Zhagaram is a growing Tamil children’s publishing house creating original, joyful and beautifully made books for young readers.

We’re looking for a Content Writer & Editor to work closely with the founder and creative team on developing the stories and content that become Zhagaram books. You’ll be involved from the early idea stage - discovering stories and authors, developing concepts and manuscripts, and helping shape them into engaging books for children.

What you’ll do

- Develop and write stories, book concepts and other content for children.
- Discover promising story ideas and potential authors.
- Read, evaluate and edit manuscripts and work with authors to develop them.
- Help shape stories, characters, language and overall book concepts.
- Work closely with illustrators to translate stories and ideas into visuals.
- Contribute ideas for new books, formats and creative projects.
- Support the development of books through to publication, working with the wider publishing team.
- Help create content and ideas for promoting Zhagaram’s books.

Who we’re looking for We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves stories and children’s books and has robust instincts for what makes a good story.

You might be a writer, editor, storyteller,



journalist, copywriter, teacher, designer or come from another creative field. Formal publishing experience isn’t essential. What matters is good writing, creativity, attention to detail and the ability to develop an idea into something children would want to read.

This is a hands-on role in a small, growing publishing house. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with the founder and play a real part in deciding what Zhagaram publishes and bringing those ideas to life.
