Essential Job Functions:

- Respond to and resolve backup and restore requests and issues.

- Troubleshoot and resolve backup and restore performance issues.

- Provide technical and configuration data for planning and reporting.

- Install and configure the new backup solution (Commvault), Data Domain, and bring it into production.

- Perform test backup and recovery for various application types and test all necessary features.

- Add vCenter to the new backup solution for auto-discovering VMs.

- Identify Datacenter / Folder / Resource Group that contains Test/Dev VMs.

- Assign appropriate SLA policy and initiate their protection.

- Ensure those VMs are not backed up elsewhere with the previous backup system to avoid duplicate copies.

- Backup Tape Library and Data Domain.

- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on incidents to ensure issues are acted upon in a timely manner.

- Understand the ITIL framework, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Emergency Change processes.

- Work on Service Improvement Plans and innovations.

- Troubleshoot complex and business-critical issues.

- Work on team skill enhancement and training need identification.

- Create best practice documents, known error records, and knowledge base articles.

- Maintain agreed SLAs.

- Provide reports as agreed in the SOW.

- Perform all chargeback estimation, provisioning, and documentation tasks in a timely manner.

- Produce regular reports for management to assist in cost recovery, capacity planning, and consolidation.

- Plan media rotation, management, and offsite movement.





- Schedule new backups and modify existing jobs.

- Troubleshoot backup performance issues (Network and Configuration).

- Troubleshoot catalog-related issues (Configuration and Inconsistency issues).

- Troubleshoot exceeded disk thresholds and inconsistency in replicas in case of Backup to Disk.

- Train and orient staff on the use of hardware and software.

- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation.

- Take ownership of issues from end-to-end to reach resolution.

- Provide consistent and excellent customer support to all staff levels.

- Maintain a positive attitude and professionalism under stress.

- Collaborate with subject matter experts for complex problem resolution.

- Communicate effectively with end users, managers, and local technical staff.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Handle challenging rapid-response user support.

- Balance, prioritize, and organize multiple tasks efficiently.

- Provide meeting room support as needed.

- Provide weekday coverage during standard business hours.

- Support rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as per business needs.

- Be flexible to work weekends as required.

Qualifications

- Exp – 7 to 9 Years

- Minimum 6+ years of hands-on experience working with Commvault and Data Domain/Tape Library on Windows and Linux environments.

- Hands-on experience with Commvault.

- Hands-on knowledge of Deduplication, Compression, and Replication setup.

- IP Network.

- WAN.

- LAN-free (SAN) based data backup design and configuration.

- Data protection and backup recovery solutions.

- Virtual Tape.

- Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape.

- Data Replication.

- Unix administration.

- Windows administration.

- Configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting NDMP backups for various NAS technologies.





- Configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting database backups.

- Knowledge of Commvault tool or backup.

- Experience developing, modifying, and maintaining shell scripts (Bash, Perl, etc.).

- Strong documentation abilities.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team workplace.

- Good communication skills.

- Commvault Backup Software Certification.

- B.Tech or equivalent Bachelor's degree.

Other Requirements

- Optional Certifications: Symantec Certified Specialist (SCS) in NetBackup and Backup Exec.

- EMC Data Domain Certification.
