Role & responsibilities
1) Logistics Strategy & Execution
- Own dispatch planning in alignment with sales forecasts and production plans to ensure high OTIF (On-Time-In-Full) performance.
- Design and manage multi-modal transportation strategies (road, rail, air, sea) to optimize cost, speed, and reliability.
- Govern end-to-end shipment execution including vehicle placement, loading protocols, dispatch documentation, and in-transit tracking.
- Build and manage a high-performing transporter ecosystem through structured empanelment, performance scorecards, SLAs, and compliance audits.
- Lead freight negotiation, contract management, and continuous cost optimization initiatives in line with annual operating plans.
- Drive reverse logistics, claims management, and transit-loss recovery in coordination with insurers and logistics partners.
2) Commercial Operations & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure 100% accuracy and compliance in invoicing, e-way bills, delivery challans, packing lists, and all statutory documentation.
- Own GST compliance for outbound logistics transactions and ensure zero non-compliance incidents through robust controls.
- Partner with Finance to ensure timely billing, receivables enablement, reconciliations, and closure of commercial exceptions.
- Manage LC documentation and export-import documentation where applicable, ensuring adherence to regulatory and customer requirements.
- Govern commercial documentation standards for customer contracts, rate agreements, and dispatch-related commercial terms.
3) Governance, Controls & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the single point of accountability for order-to-dispatch coordination with Production, Warehousing, Sales, and Finance.
- Institutionalize SOPs, internal controls, and risk mitigation frameworks across logistics and commercial operations.
- Lead internal, statutory, and customer audits; ensure timely closure of audit observations and continuous strengthening of controls.
- Build executive MIS dashboards covering OTIF, freight cost per unit, claims ratio, invoice accuracy, and cycle-time performance.
- Identify and lead process digitization, ERP optimization, and automation initiatives to drive scalability and transparency.
Preferred candidate profile
- Graduate in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations, or equivalent.
- MBA / Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain / Operations preferred.
- 510 years of progressive experience in logistics, commercial operations, or supply chain roles within manufacturing or B2B environments.
- Robust working knowledge of GST regulations, ERP platforms (SAP), and advanced MS Excel / MIS automation.
- Demonstrated experience in freight negotiation, vendor governance, cross-functional leadership, and audit-facing roles.
