SwapSutra

Saharanpur

Role: Campus Ambassador (Volunteer)

Organisation: SwapSutra — India's reader-first book sharing community

Location: Your own college / university campus (remote + on-ground)

Duration: 2–3 months (extendable)

Commitment: 3–5 hours a week, versatile around your class schedule

Compensation: Volunteer role — recognised with an official Certificate of Volunteering, based on the work done

About SwapSutra

SwapSutra is a reader-first community platform where people in India discover, swap, lend, rent, sell and share books — and, more importantly, find other readers. Beyond the shelf, SwapSutra is where readers keep their reading space, track what they're reading, join reading circles, attend meetups and talk about books with people who actually finish them.

We believe a good book should not sit unread on one shelf when someone three hostel blocks away is looking for exactly that title.

About the Role

As a SwapSutra Campus Ambassador, you are our voice on the ground at your college. Your job is simple to describe and genuinely enjoyable to do: help the readers on your campus find each other.

You'll introduce fellow students to SwapSutra, get books moving between them, and help build a small, warm reading culture where there wasn't one before — one campus at a time.

This is a volunteer position. You won't be selling anything, chasing targets, or cold-calling strangers. You'll be doing the kind of thing a reader would happily do anyway, with our support behind you.

What you'll do

- Introduce SwapSutra on campus — talk about the platform in your classes, hostels, libraries,

clubs and student groups, and help interested students sign up and list their first book.
- Get books circulating — encourage swaps, lends and shares among students, and help first-time users complete their first successful exchange.
- Build the reading community — start or support a reading circle on your campus, and help organise small book meetups, book-exchange drives or reading sessions.
- Represent SwapSutra with campus bodies — connect us with your college's literary society, library, book club or student council where relevant.
- Share what's happening — post about SwapSutra activity on your own social handles and campus groups, and contribute photos or short notes from events for our community gallery and newsletter.
- Bring back what you learn — tell us what students on your campus actually want, what confuses them, and what would make SwapSutra better. Ambassador feedback genuinely shapes the product.

Who we are looking for

- A currently enrolled college or university student in India (any year, any course).
- Someone who reads — you don't need to have read a hundred books, but books should be something you care about.

- Comfortable talking to people and bringing a group together.
- Reliable and self-driven — this role runs on initiative, not supervision.
- Active on at least one social platform (Instagram, WhatsApp groups, LinkedIn) used by students on your campus.
- Bonus, not required: experience with a literary society, book club, student club, event organising or content creation.

No prior experience is required. Genuine enthusiasm for books and for your campus community counts for more than a résumé. What You'll Get

- An official SwapSutra Certificate of Volunteering , issued at the end of your term, based on the work you actually do during the program — the activities you run, the readers you bring in, and the community you help build. The certificate reflects your real contribution, so the more you put in, the stronger the recognition.

- A Letter of Recommendation for standout ambassadors, on request.
- Early access to new SwapSutra features, and complimentary SwapSutra membership for the duration of your term.

- Real, transferable experience in community building, campus marketing, event organising and user research — the kind you can actually talk about in an interview.
- Direct access to the founding team. SwapSutra is early-stage; you'll see how a product gets built and have a real say in it.
- Featured recognition across SwapSutra's community channels, event gallery and newsletter.

- A reading circle of your own — and a network of ambassadors and readers across campuses in India.
