Role Overview
As a Business Analyst (Customer Solution & Requirements), you will serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams. You will lead customer discovery sessions to uncover operational challenges, translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, and ensure delivered software solutions align directly with customer goals while minimizing scope creep and rework.
Role Outcomes
- Client onboarding transitions smoothly from signed contract into discovery, scope baselines, and implementation roadmaps.
- Drive and ownership of Client business goals being accurately translated into structured BRDs, FRDs, and SRS documents that drive the end-to-end Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Engineering, UI/UX, and QA teams receive production-ready user stories, system workflows, business logic, and acceptance criteria across all development sprints.
- Scope creep and requirement churn are proactively controlled through formal change management and continuous client communication.
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT) achieves fast, structured sign-offs with direct traceability to the agreed functional specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Discovery & Client Stakeholder Management
- Lead post-sales requirement workshops, discovery, kickoff sessions, and recurring discovery meetings with client-side product owners, department heads,
and end users.
- Uncover operational challenges, target workflows, and critical success factors; translate contractual scope into realistic functional deliverables.
- Capture detailed meeting minutes, decisions, system dependencies, assumptions, and risk items, obtaining formal client sign-off.
- Serve as the primary post-sales functional liaison between the client and internal technical delivery teams.
Requirement Engineering (BRD, FRD, SRS & Process Modeling)
- Create end-to-end Business Requirements Documents (BRD) detailing business objectives, high-level scope, user roles, and operational constraints.
- Formulate exhaustive Functional Requirements Documents (FRD) specifying UI behavior, validations, error handling, system logic, and data structures.
- Develop and maintain Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) inputs, covering non-functional requirements, external interfaces, and system interaction constraints.
- Map current client operations (As-Is) to proposed platform capabilities (To-Be) using diagrams, process models, and data flow diagrams.
- Maintain a live Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) linking each business objective through FRD/SRS specifications, sprint backlog items, test cases, and deployment.
Sprint Execution & Software Life Cycle (SDLC) Enablement
- Own functional grooming throughout the Agile/Scrum delivery lifecycle, breaking down FRDs and SRS items into well-structured user stories with clear Given-When-Then acceptance criteria.
- Drive the Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, and Sprint Reviews to ensure engineering and QA teams understand functional nuances before development begins.
- Provide continuous, in-sprint functional support to resolve blockers, clarify ambiguous edge cases,
and validate work-in-progress features.
- Enforce change request procedures by evaluating the scope, cost, sprint velocity, and schedule impact of current client feature requests.
User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Go-Live & Handover
- Formulate UAT plans, test scenarios, and acceptance checklists aligned with the signed FRD/SRS.
- Coordinate UAT execution directly with client business users, triaging reported defects to distinguish genuine functional bugs from new out-of-scope change requests.
- Guide clients through release demos, product walkthroughs, and end-user enablement sessions to secure formal project sign-off.
- Support post-launch rollout, deployment and functional knowledge transfer to the ongoing client support team.
Expected Deliverables
- Client Discovery Agenda, Stakeholder Map, and Meeting Action Logs
- As-Is & To-Be Process Flowcharts and Data Flow Diagrams
- Business Requirements Document (BRD)
- Functional Requirements Document (FRD)
- Software Requirements Specification (SRS) inputs
- Sprint-Ready User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and Edge-Case Matrices
- Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM)
- Change Request Logs with Scope and Timeline Impact Assessments
- UAT Test Scripts, Defect Logs, and Client Acceptance Sign-Off Records
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or Engineering.
- 1–2 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, or Solution Analyst in a post-sales, software solution development or SaaS implementation environment.
- Hands-on experience drafting formal BRD, FRD, and SRS documentation, as well as managing sprint backlogs in Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
- Solid understanding of the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum execution practices.
- Proven track record of independently facilitating workshops and managing client expectations across multiple post-sales engagements.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and stakeholder presentation skills.
