Job Purpose The Bridge Design Engineer is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and finalizing structural drawings and layouts for bridge and highway infrastructure projects. The role primarily focuses on developing General Arrangement Drawings (GAD), executing Cross Drainage (CD) structure designs, and ensuring structural compliance with IRC/MoRTH codes.

Key Responsibilities

- Drawings & Detailing (GAD & CD Structures)
- Prepare and detail General Arrangement Drawings (GAD) for minor bridges, major bridges, flyovers, ROBs, and RUBs.
- Develop detailed reinforcement and construction drawings for CD structures, including single/multi-cell box culverts, slab culverts, and pipe culverts.
- Prepare and verify structural schedules, including Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) and structural quantity take-offs (BOQ).
- Hydraulic & Alignment Integration
- Interpret hydrological data (Design Discharge, High Flood Level [HFL], Scour Depth, Waterway requirements) and translate them into functional GAD elevations and foundation levels.
- Coordinate with highway geometric design teams to integrate vertical profiles, horizontal curves, superelevations, and skew angles into structural layouts.




- Code Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all structural models, layouts, and detailing strictly comply with relevant codes: IRC:5, IRC:6, IRC:78, IRC:83, IRC:112, and MoRTH specifications.
- Conduct internal checks on drawing deliverables for dimensional accuracy, reinforcement clearances, bearing pedestals, expansion joints, and drainage details.
- Coordination & Approvals
- Address and incorporate technical observations raised by Proof Consultants, Independent Engineers (IE), Authority Engineers (AE), NHAI, or State PWDs.
- Liaise with site engineers to address technical queries (RFIs) and clarify drawing details during construction.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Civil Engineering. Master’s degree (M.E. / M.Tech) in Structural Engineering is strongly preferred.
- Experience: 2 to 4 years of proven structural drafting and design experience within an infrastructure design consultancy.
- Technical Skills:
- High proficiency in AutoCAD (2D structural detailing, layer management, xrefs).
- Working knowledge of structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro , midas Civil ) is an asset.
- Strong working familiarity with standard IRC load classifications and standard drawing templates.
- Competencies: Strong spatial reasoning, precision in numeric detailing, analytical problem-solving, and clear technical communication.
