Job Summary
Job Title: Battery Developement Engineer
Location: Pune
Experience: 1-3 years
This role is for an Associate Design Engineer with a focus on mechanical packaging and new product development within EV battery systems. The ideal candidate will contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge battery solutions, ensuring performance, safety, and manufacturability. We seek a detail-oriented individual eager to apply their engineering skills in a energetic environment.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the mechanical design and packaging of EV battery systems, including packs and modules.
- Develop 3D CAD models and detailed 2D engineering drawings, applying GD&T; principles.
- Perform DFMEA, DFM, DFA, and tolerance stack-up analyses to optimize designs for performance and manufacturability.
- Support the selection of appropriate materials for battery components, considering performance, cost, and environmental factors.
- Assist in the design of cell integration, busbars, enclosures, cooling systems, and sealing solutions (IP67/IP69).
- Participate in structural validation activities and develop concepts for laser welded assemblies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to ensure timely project execution.
- Support prototype development, design reviews, root cause analysis, and engineering change management (ECN/ECR).
- Apply knowledge of battery technologies, BMS interfaces, HV safety, thermal management,
and automotive standards.
- Contribute to continuous product improvement initiatives, focusing on quality, cost, and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor''s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 1-3 years of professional experience in product design, mechanical packaging, or new product development, specifically within EV battery systems.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing creation, with a strong understanding of GD&T.;
- Experience with DFMEA, DFM, DFA, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Familiarity with PLM release management processes.
- Demonstrated experience in designing battery packs, modules, cell integration, busbars, enclosures, cooling, and sealing.
- Knowledge of structural validation and laser welded assembly concepts.
- Understanding of battery technologies, BMS interfaces, HV safety, thermal management, and IP ratings (IP67/IP69).
- Awareness of vibration, crash requirements, and validation testing for automotive applications.
- Hands-on experience with prototype development, design reviews, root cause analysis, and engineering change management (ECN/ECR).
- Familiarity with APQP and continuous product improvement methodologies.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing.
- Strong commitment to ensuring product quality, cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, and compliance with automotive standards.
