Key Responsibilities
- Assess legacy frameworks and platforms for modernization readiness and strategy.
- Design microservices architectures for monolith decomposition using strangler fig and branch-by-abstraction patterns.
- Execute monolith to microservices decomposition including database separation and bounded context identification.
- Develop REST APIs and serverless services on AWS Lambda using SAM and API Gateway.
- Implement event-driven design patterns using SQS, SNS, EventBridge, and Step Functions (visual workflows with parallel processing and error handling).
- Design and execute database decomposition and migration strategies.
- Implement containerization and orchestration using Docker, Amazon ECS/EKS, and Fargate.
- Configure service discovery using AWS Cloud Map for dynamically changing microservices.
- Provide technical guidance to associates on modernization best practices.
- Collaborate with architecture and DevOps teams to ensure smooth transitions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
- 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience in modernization or transformation.
- Strong proficiency in microservices architecture design and implementation.
- Hands-on experience with monolith decomposition (strangler fig, branch-by-abstraction) and database separation.
- Strong backend development skills with Java, Python, Node.js, or equivalent.
- Experience designing and implementing REST APIs on Lambda using SAM and API Gateway.
- Experience with event-driven architectures (SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Step Functions).
- Proficiency with containerization and orchestration (Docker, ECS/EKS, Fargate).
- Understanding of database modernization patterns, DMS, and SCT.
- Familiarity with service discovery (Cloud Map) and service mesh (App Mesh) concepts.
- Robust communication skills and ability to articulate technical decisions.
