Position Summary

Otsuka America is seeking a Senior Consultant to lead the administration, engineering, optimization, and security of AWS cloud environments supporting pharmaceutical, digital medicine, research, and enterprise operations. The role will design highly available cloud solutions, automate infrastructure, improve operational resilience, and ensure alignment with regulated-industry requirements such as GxP, HIPAA, and GDPR. 1 2

Key Responsibilities

- Lead administration and engineering of AWS environments, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, VPNs, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and related services.
- Design secure, scalable, highly available, and cost-effective cloud architectures.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
- Automate provisioning, patching, configuration management, monitoring, and operational tasks using Python, Bash, or similar scripting tools.
- Implement observability and alerting using Amazon CloudWatch, Splunk, Datadog, Recent Relic, or comparable platforms. 2 3
- Lead incident response, problem management, root-cause analysis, and preventive-action activities.
- Support disaster recovery exercises, backup strategies, business continuity planning, and resilience testing.
- Enable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools.
- Support containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Partner with application, data, cybersecurity, architecture, and compliance teams.
- Maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, architecture diagrams, and support standards.




- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior cloud engineers.
- Contribute to cloud cost optimization, capacity planning, performance tuning, and platform modernization.
- Support hybrid-cloud integration involving AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-premises environments. 1 3

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud engineering, systems administration, or consulting.
- 6+ years of hands-on AWS administration and cloud infrastructure experience.
- Advanced knowledge of AWS networking, security, compute, storage, database, and monitoring services.
- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
- Proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation, Python, Bash, or comparable automation tools.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD technologies.
- Demonstrated experience managing production incidents, technical escalations, and disaster recovery activities.
- Working knowledge of Agile, DevOps, ITIL, and structured change-management practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills,



with the ability to explain technical topics to business and executive stakeholders. 4 5

Preferred Qualifications

- AWS Certified Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, DevOps Engineer, or Security Specialty certification.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated industry.
- Familiarity with GxP, HIPAA, GDPR, data privacy, and regulated-cloud controls.
- Experience with multi-account AWS organizations, landing zones, Control Tower, AWS Organizations, and Service Catalog.
- Knowledge of cloud financial management and AWS cost-optimization techniques.
- Experience supporting research data platforms, digital medicine, analytics, or AI-enabled environments.
- Experience leading distributed teams and coordinating third-party technology partners.
