Senior Autonomous Systems / Flight Software Engineer (On-Site)

Location: R&D; Center & Robotics Lab (Full-Time, 100% In-Office)

Experience: 4–8 Years

Department: Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Flight Control & Autonomy

About The Role We are seeking an expert Autonomous Flight Software Engineer to build the onboard intelligence and navigation algorithms that power our next-generation enterprise drone fleets.

In this hands-on, on-site role, you will work directly inside our hardware robotics lab and engineering headquarters. You will bridge low-level sensor integration with high-level path planning, enabling uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) to execute complex, GPS-denied, and fully autonomous missions for industrial inspection and logistics.

Key Responsibilities & Detailed Breakdown: 1. Flight Control & Guidance Algorithm Development

- Design, implement, and test advanced guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) algorithms for fixed-wing and multi-rotor UAV platforms.
- Integrate and tune open-source flight controller stacks (such as PX4 or ArduPilot) with custom hardware payloads and companion computers (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson).
- Develop real-time state estimation frameworks using sensor fusion techniques (Extended Kalman Filters combining IMU, GPS, LiDAR, and optical flow cameras).
- Autonomous Navigation & Computer Vision Integration
- Build collision-avoidance, obstacle-detection, and real-time path-replanning algorithms using computer vision and point-cloud data (OpenCV, PCL, ROS/ROS2).
- Program autonomous mapping, waypoint navigation, and target-tracking workflows designed for BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) operations.
- Optimize edge-AI inference pipelines running on drone companion boards to process imagery or telemetry locally in real-time.
- Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) & Lab Testing
- Conduct rigorous Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL)

simulation tests using tools like Gazebo or AirSim to validate flight safety before physical test flights.
- Partner face-to-face with electrical and mechanical hardware engineers in our robotics lab to debug sensor faults, actuator lags, and power-distribution anomalies.
- Participate in ground-station setup, telemetry logging analysis, and field-test post-mortems immediately following outdoor flight trials.
- Safety Compliance & System Reliability
- Ensure all flight software meets rigorous safety-critical fault-tolerance standards, including fail-safe return-to-home protocols and geofencing limits.
- Maintain clean version control, unit test coverage, and documentation for all onboard code modules in adherence to aviation and industrial compliance standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Work Mode: 100% On-site commitment with daily physical presence in our engineering lab, test bench facilities, and development hub.

- Core Technical Stack
- Advanced proficiency in C++ and Python (Linux/Ubuntu environment).
- Deep experience with ROS / ROS2 (Robot Operating System).
- Hands-on familiarity with flight control firmware (PX4 / ArduPilot) and MAVLink communication protocols.
- Experience with simulation environments (Gazebo, AirSim) and sensor fusion frameworks.
- Domain Knowledge: Robust understanding of drone aerodynamics, coordinate frames (NED/ENU), PID controllers, and payload integration (thermal cameras, LiDAR, multi-spectral sensors).
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical systems engineering experience.

Why Join Us On-Site? Developing software for flying hardware requires tight coordination. Being physically present in our robotics lab allows you to push code, mount the companion computer directly onto the drone airframe, and test modifications on the physical test bench within minutes. Skills: gazebos,airsim,python,px4,ned,c++,pid controllers, ros, ardupilot, lidar technology
