Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and academically accomplished Associate Professor in Agronomy to contribute to teaching, research, student mentoring, and departmental academic activities. The candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Agronomy, guiding students in academic and research projects, and contributing to the development of the department through research, publications, and extension activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Agronomy and related areas.
- Prepare and deliver lectures, practical sessions, demonstrations, and field-based training.
- Guide students in research projects, dissertations, internships, and academic activities.
- Publish research findings in reputed national and international journals.
- Participate in agricultural extension activities, field demonstrations, farmer training programmes, and technology dissemination.
- Contribute to curriculum development, academic planning, examinations, and departmental activities.
- Mentor students and support their academic and professional development.
- Collaborate with other departments, research institutions, industries, and agricultural organisations.
- Maintain appropriate academic and research records and contribute to accreditation and institutional quality initiatives.
- Undertake any other academic, research, administrative, extension,



or institutional responsibilities as assigned by the competent authority from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

- Ph.D. in Agronomy from a recognised university.
- Master’s degree in Agronomy or relevant/allied discipline with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade, as applicable.
- Minimum 8 years of teaching and/or research experience in a position equivalent to Assistant Professor in a University or College.
- Evidence of significant research contribution with publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed or other journals recognised under the applicable agricultural university/ICAR norms.
- Candidates should meet the applicable ICAR/UGC, State Government and affiliating University regulations in force at the time of appointment.
- Experience in guiding postgraduate/research students, handling research projects, agricultural extension activities, and field-based research will be preferred.

Desirable Skills

- Solid knowledge of modern agronomic practices and sustainable crop production.
- Expertise in weed management, precision agriculture, crop modelling, conservation agriculture, irrigation and nutrient management, or related areas.
- Good teaching, research, communication, and student mentoring skills.
- Experience in externally funded research projects, consultancy, extension activities, or industry collaboration.
