- Experience: 4 to 8 Years
- The AS400 Programmer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting applications within the Island Pacific retail system on the Client i (AS/400) platform.
- This role works closely with business users, IT teams, and retail operations to enhance system functionality, troubleshoot issues, develop reports, and ensure seamless integration between retail, inventory, merchandising, and financial systems.

Essential Job Functions:

- Develop, modify, and maintain programs using RPG III, RPG IV (ILE RPG), CL, SQL, and DB2 on Client i (AS/400).
- Support and enhance Island Pacific retail applications, including merchandising, inventory management, purchasing, sales, and warehouse functions.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Create, test, and implement program changes and system enhancements.
- Develop and maintain interfaces between Island Pacific and other enterprise systems.
- Design and generate operational, management, and ad hoc reports.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot application issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve production incidents.
- Support data conversions, upgrades, and system implementations.
- Prepare technical documentation, process flows,



and user guides.
- Collaborate with end users to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Participate in system testing, quality assurance, and deployment activities.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience programming on Client i (AS400) platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Island Pacific retail software.
- Strong knowledge of RPG III / RPG IV (ILE RPG).
- Strong knowledge of CL Programming.
- Strong knowledge of DB2/400.
- Strong knowledge of SQL.
- Strong knowledge of Query/400.
- Experience with batch processing, job scheduling, and system operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in retail, apparel, footwear, or distribution industries.
- Knowledge of EDI, POS integrations, inventory management, and merchandising systems.
- Familiarity with web services, APIs, and system integration technologies.
- Experience supporting warehouse management and supply chain processes.
- Understanding of source control and change management procedures.

- This version is suitable for a mid-level AS400 Programmer position supporting an Island Pacific retail environment.
